If it's a copied DVD you really don't need anything but a burn tool. Was the copy a DVD9? And are you trying to burn to a DVD5? You won't be needing Decrypt or Shrink b/c chances are it's already been shrunk. And the first guy who did it already took off all encryptions. Just use Nero or something. With something like this you can even burn on the fly if you use quality media and burn at 2x.

Edit your post, get rid of all those caps.

A DVD9 is a dual layer DVD w/ something like 8gigs on it, most storebought DVDs are DVD9. Most people use DVD5 which only has 4.7, that's what the label says anyways. It's probably bad media. I suggest Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Sony and Fujis are fine but only if they are made in Japan. If they are then that means that they are Taiyo Yuden and should be fine, the same goes for Maxell. Also what speed are you burning at? Try to keep it at 4x, 2x since you are using that imation crap.

I like TDK and Verbatim burns real good as well. The cheap crap is just that... crap. I've bought AnyDVD and use Nero. Once it's shrunk or even if it isn't, depending on the disk size, I can burn from disk to disk with no problems. A friend of mine does have an occasional problem though so he use's shrink without any shrink. then burns right to the disk. LOL

@ebony1966, That dvd copy your trying to replicate wouldn't be giving you an encryption error. Like "This DVD is protected". some DVD encryption that I have recently experienced i.e. "conviction" transfers the encryption on to the copy and get this, will read a DVD protected error and your decryption software will not even recognize it to remove it. Also be sure you know the write speed used for making the copied DVD. A mismatch will cause read errors which lead to a failed burn.

if you want to backup a backup the best program i have found or burning program is ashampoo just do a disk copy and in about 8 min (depending on speed of your system i have a p4 1.7 512 ddr ram) you will have a great back up. Nero don't like this nor does nti or roxio

@ebony1966, I burn at the speed suggested on the DVD blank media i.e. 4x or 8x DVD-R or DVD+R. Many here may suggest that you burn at 4x max. This has not worked for me and has created read errors. I have never burned faster than 8x speed. There are 16x blank DVD media out there but I have never used it. I use SONY 8x DVD-R most often using Nero Recode2 to burn primarily using the 1st option "Recode an entire DVD to DVD" and the last option "Slow Burn" (For quality burn) which encodes or compresses the DVD content.

Most times I don't choose the option for additional analysis unless the disc I've recorded is in bad shape i.e. surface scratches or a possible poor burn. Also there are challenging encryption issues that arrise from time to time that can be tricky even with a copied DVD disc, so it's good to have a few encryption ripping programs like SHRINK, DVD Decrypter, DVD FAB, and DVD43, or any others mentioned by members here.

NERO does not decrypt media content but is the best overall burn program I know next to "DVD DECRYPTER" which burns and decrypts. Again there are other popular software programs here. The ones I mentioned and suggested are free and the links are found on this website under software. Try the different burning options found within the decryption and burning software i.e. FILE, ISO, and IFO. The reason being that due to encryption challenges prensented on a given disc, The only way you may complete a succesful burn is to use these burn options that help to broaden your chances of a successful DVD burn.

Use quality media like SONY or Verbatim. Poor media creates many issues like read errors and you can find a bad disc in any spindle, but you lessen this chance with quality media. They're is more to know about the anotomy of DVD disc and a search of this site will lead you to information about what makes one DVD blank disc media better than others. SONY is the most available great quality media, available at your most popular retail oulets here in the states like Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart etc and is often on sale.:)

If the genaration #1 copy has not carried out by you then probably the original, if it is already shrunk, has still some kind of protections enabled which are not appearing at first sight. In this case I found a paranoic solution for bypassing this problems. Copy the backup into your hard disk as an image, Nero Image file is also suitable in our case, Open the image file with WinRAR or any similar program and save it in a new folder. Pick all the files from this folder and burn them using a burner such as Nero!!!
Then you can make infinity copies from the generation #2 copy on the fly!!!!!!
