DVD/CD can play DVD but not CD???

Need help please!
my dvd/cd combo can only play dvd. everytime I insert CD i got an erro message . It cannot even see the data file CD. It can't read ,it can't write.Basicly It just die . this is happening right after I was trying to burn a Audio Cd but it failed. I have tried to uninstall and re install the drive, i also format the C drive but nothing happened. I only the noise it tried to launch the CD, that's about it. Can you help please?? Thank you very much. Ap
