I've made over 50 copies with shrink and nero. Now, it burns bunk discs everytime. I switched to burn with decrypter and I get the same results. I use my gateway laptop with a TS L532A , don't know what to look for.
What should I check first?

You are going to have to provide more information. We can't read minds. What do you mean by bunk discs? Do you have problems while transcoding/burning? Do they just not play after burning? What media are you useing? What speed are you burning at? Can you provide a log?

yup need lots more info. things to try

uninstall and reinstall the programs
make sure your firmware is up to date
use better media as in Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim NOT memorx
DO NOT run anyother programs while burning
make sure your system is clean as in a disc cleanup and defraging the system often

What's a bunk disc? Can you place them under your bunk bed so you don't mark up the floor? LOL

Are these bunk discs what we call coasters-ruined discs:
Burn coasters-erroring out in the middle/end of your burn.
Lead-in errors-Burn fails before actual burn
Playback coasters-stand alone/s won't recognize
Playback coasters-Pc drive-the one that produced the backup, won't recognize them.
Playback coasters-Issues on playback like pixellation/freezing/skipping/jumping

The usual thing is media.
Did you change anything with your media like:
Different spindles/pack
Different quanity
Different format
Different speed

you need to update your Nero first off

make sure your firmware is up to date on your burner

try a different program

CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD would be my first choice

I want to the definition #11 bunk with aabbccdd's sig pic!!!

Quiller99: Looks like a successful burn. What is actually wrong with that backup?

You've got good quality plus format ritek-r03 and 4x burn speed.

The main thing I noticed is this:
Quote:
Last address to be written: 2282175 (507:09.00, 4457MB)
Reduce the backup target. This is burning the edge,so a lot of issues can occur when you burn the very outer edge of disc. I keep mine at 4360 mbs-of actual data.
4380 mbs is the max when you're talking about the true size of a blank dvd. What programs do you use?

I agree with saugmon, I think that target size can be an issue with your burns creating, as so aptly put, "Bunk" discs. Reduce the target size to 4300, burn at 4x.

Cheers.

A little off topic but the default target size of rb/cce is 4432 mb and this setting never causes any problems when used with verbatum MCC003 media. BTW what is the topic? Bunk.

Yeah, everything seems successful with the burn except unrecognizable discs. Quoted from above:

Playback coasters-stand alone/s won't recognize
Playback coasters-Pc drive-the one that produced the backup, won't recognize them.

I changed the image size to 4300 and speed to 2.5X. Tried to burn Batman and still got a bunk disc....

According to rpc1.org, the known firmware for that drive is "SB00". Although you have "TS30". - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2015

Where did you download your firmware at?

Can you run a few of those first 50 good backups through your pc and find the MID codes on them.I'm curious if they also code as Ritek-ro3: Neroinfotool/dvdidentifier/dvdinfopro/dvd decrypter will all find this MID code.

Something is definitely wrong since that burner won't even play its own backups. Maybe you got a bad batch of media, which can happen from time to time?

I'd like to know if that MID code did change between the successful and bunk discs.

also, from what i can see here...might be a simple fix by just updating Nero
Quote:
Recorder: <TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532A>Version: TS30 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.3.1.6
Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1
Drive buffer : 2048kB
Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI
Connected to MMC as unknown drive with class-nr : 1
Drive is autodetected - recorder class: Std. MMC recorder
i've noticed on a few other people's Nero logs that when the Nero version is too "ancient", that this MMC recorder line pops up for whatever reason, SOMETIMES turning the seemingly successful burn into one that WILL NOT play in the drive that just burned it~ :) not recognized as you stated above...Nero is up to 6.6.0.18 now~ :P

update your Nero and try again as the media seems ok, i think your problem revolves more around the fact that Nero "autodetects" your drive/burner, but, something is just "bunk" with the setup~ :)

Jmet, the drive was auto recognized by XP. I cannot find another driver for it. I went to the forum you suggested and can't find a download of it. They talk about it but I can't find it....

I will check out the MID codes later. I'll compare burned discs made before I formated drive and discs burned now.
