I tried this program, which I found to be suggested on the forums, here. It's just what UI'm looking for, because I need to convert VOB files to AVI, etc..

I tried converting my VOB file with the codecs provided in there, and still I get no sound when I play it back in Windows Media Player..why is this?

please help me solve this problem

Never seen anyone recommend it for encoding, only for creating D2V files for frameserving and most people have updated to DGIndex. Try something like AutoGK or FairUse Wizard instead.

thanks for suggestion, AutoGK did the trick, not to mention, a VERY nice trick. It converted some gig scene into AVI in 39 Megs, and the quality is practically identical to what's on the DVD. Amazing, kept same aspect ratio and sound.

I've got a question though.

What's a good program to use if I want to for example go to a SPECIFIC timeframe of a scene on DVD and THEN start ripping from that point to a specified end point? but so it encodes it in AVI or MPEG

Never used AutoGK myself, but you are saying that it doesn't offer a source range setting? You could try regular GK instead. It is not as easy to use, but it is much more flexible.

FairUse Wizard allows you to set the source range. Normally you would have to purchase the non LE version, however I compiled a version without that and other limitations.
