Hi all. Until recently back-ups worked fine on my console. That was until i ran out of blank DVD-r's and had to buy some new ones. After trying them out I've found i cant seem to burn the image to disk.

Everything was fine when using Bulkpaq 16xDVD-R's.
New ones are Phillips DVD-R's which i wouldnt have thought would cause a prob but there ya go.

Ive tried different burnin software. Nero 6, CloneDVD, & DVDecrypter but as yet had no joy with any. They say the burn was successful but then no joy whn try in PS2

The old Bulkpaq disks still work in console and I've tried burning at diff speeds.

Ive also tried burning avi files to the new Phillips DVD-R's and had no probs playing them in my DVD player.

Any ideas folks cos I'm at a loss? O yeah the burner is a pioneer 108 & the firmware is 1.20

MOST Philips discs are complete garbage...some examples would be:

Philips DVD+R 4.7GB PHILIPS.C08 (philips OWN manufactured media is CRAP)

Philips DVD+R 4.7GB Philips.081 8x (wow, there it is again)

Philips DVD+R 4.7GB MBIPG101R04 8x (moser baer india..not good again im afraid)

Philips DVD+R 4.7GB CMC MAG.F01 4x (now to the good stuff..CMC MAG crappola LOL)

Philips DVD+R 4.7GB CMC MAG.E01 8x (cough cough CRAP cough cough)

Philips DVD-R 4.7GB CMC MAG. AE1 8x (need i repeat myself?)

Philips DVD-R 4.7GB FUJIFILM03.. 8x (also NOT great, but better than the above list i mentioned)

the inconsistencies w/ the manufacturers for Philips branded discs are just something i would NOT suggest dealing with...why bother with the possibility of getting CRAPPY media when it can be avoided ALL TOGETHER~ :) check my sig. for the REALLY "good stuff" using Taiyo Yuden (genuine of course) and Verbatim you will be MUCH better off...

Bit of an update. Have tried different media and stil no joy so that kinda narrows it down to the drive, because I've tried burnin other ISO's that still have on hardrive and get same prob whereas they previously burnt fine.

Still seems wierd it burns VOB files for use in stand alone DVD player ok but cdould be way off the mark there.

Did a recent format of XP but XP's supposed to auto find all drivers needed for hardware so cant see why this would be a prob.

Anyway, at a loss. PLEASE HELP!

hmm..u got the latest firmware for your 108, so, that rules THAT out...perhaps your drive is going bad slowly? i think a Nero log would help me and the other guys out a bit in finding your problem minus your serial code, make sure you DON't post that up here, wouldn't want people stealing it now would we? (if it IS in fact not media based...hehe..btw, WHAT other kinds of media have you tried? did you try anything "good" or just went back to bulkpaq/philips?)

i need to know EXACTLY what "other media" you tried before i can eliminate ANY/ALL possibility of this issue being media related...please let me know...

@Matty_K

What are you trying to burn/backup (i.e. dvd movie or a PS2 game)? If you're using DVD Decrypter for PS2 games, then did you choose the MDS file? You should have chosen the MDS file for PS2 games. How old is your PS2 console and what version is it? How fast did you burned? Have you tried cleaning (using a q-tip and alcohol) the PS2 laser? Is there any errors when playing on your PS2 console?

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.
