I just tried creating a new DVD using a .mp2 video and a .ac3 sound file. After 'compiling' the IFO's, I get the video, but there is NO sound... What do I do wrong?

mp2 video? do you mean an mv2 video? I had the same problem and it was because my sound file was silent...maybe small thing to check but does your sound file work on its own?

Have you tried authoring in another app like Rejig? It uses the same interface as IfoEdit but a different authoring engine. If you have the same problem with it the problem is most likely your audio file. You could also try using a trial version of one of the commercial authoring packages.

Did you use IFOEdit again? And what's the source of the audio and video streams?

Tried both IFOEdit and rejig, both result in no audio being played. I tried avicodec to check the files; this is what I get :
File : 1.36 GB (1.36 GB), duration: 2:14:19, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 69 %
Video : 1.00 GB, 1073 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 608*256 (2.21:1), XviD = XviD Mpeg-4, Not checked
Audio : 368 MB, 384 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 6 channels, 0x2000 = AC3 DVM, Not checked
I extracted the audio using VirtualDub and this worked fine, resulting in a .AC3 file that plays fine using media player. However, when I include the file in ifoedit/rejig, the dvd has no sound. I tried making a DVD using dvd-lab but that one gives me an (unspecified) error.
I might consider converting the AC3 to wav, but I would rather keep the 5.1 sound ;)

Man this is strange. Just tried again, instead of demuxing made a .wav using VirtualDub. Resulting .wav plays just fine in media player, created a new dvd > result: craps, pops, beeps, static...but no sound ??
