I read all over the site and can't find a good explanation. My ps2 will play some backup games but not all, specifically it won't play darkwatch and soul cal 3. I have a version 4 ps2, swap magic 3.6, and can only burn +R dvds. Fujifilm 8x worked for some games. Does that mean they should work for ALL games? I've also failed with Sony DVD+R. The ps2 loads the game, then keeps flashing the game creator logo when the logo (ie "ubisoft") comes on the screen. What does this mean? Problem with the media? Problem with my ps2? It also makes a really loud clicking noise when it does this. I've tried burning slow and fast...doesn't seem to matter. Any advice would help.
You might want to try DVD-R's instead. They're usually more compatible with the older PS2s. Also, maybe try some Taiyo Yudens. I was having problems like this too, then I switched to Taiyo Yudens and have no problems anymore.
Thanks for the reply. I have figured out what to do for my ps2, and I want other people with the same problem to know what to do. I read somewhere here that the actual flip-top lid gets in the way for big games because the laser hits the flip-top lid when it goes to the outside of the disk. This is TRUE for some cheap flip-tops like mine. If your ps2 is making a terrible helicopter-like noise, and doesn't want to play large games (4.0-4.7Gb or so), you might have the same problem. Just loosen the BACK screws while keeping the front ones a little looser...this is so the part that hits the laser is raised and out of the way. After this little trick, ALL my problems went away! Well...most of them anyway. I use Sony 8x, Fugifilm 8x, and Phillips 8x DVD+R for my version 4 ps2. Hope this helps somebody!
