Is it just this dvd or does it happen with other dvd's? If it just this dvd trying cleaning it off. If that doesn't work you may have a bad press and will need to exchange it for a new one.

it's all of them..like right now its encoding but when it gets to a certain percentage and I come back to check on it I will get a message saying "Device not ready..no disk in drive e" even though there is a disk in there..and sometimes I notice how when the burner is connected to the computer and its having this problem, when I try opening IE or anything else, it wont work..but when I turn off the burner everything comes up..not sure what all of it means..two days ago everything was fine..is it possible to be fine one day and screwed up the next?

Is your firmware current? What is the model# of your drive? Is this a USB drive?

I don't know what you did wrong the first time cause i did family guy about 2 years ago. W/ madagascar you are going to need shirnk to compress it, so no matter what movie you are doing you are going to use shrink, unless you bought something. YOu will be needing DVDFAB b/c neither decrypt nor shirnk can do 'mad'. You can use decrypt to do it if you follow jaguargod's guide but it's a little complecated.
