Hello,

My neighbour loaned me some dvds she had broguht from Bali. They all play on my TV no problems but for some reason some of them wont play on my computer. My dvd drive doesnt even detect them and its as if the drive is empty. My dvd drive is a failry new model LG dual layer burner and I use dvd anywhere as well. Some of tehm play fine and some of them dont even exist despite me putting them in the drive and waiting for ten minutes to see if anthing happens. Is there any reason for this and how can it be fixed, if at all?

Thanks in advance.

ok 1st off.Hold the discs up to the light. Can you see through them.
If so it means that the laser has no point that it can read as it is going through the disc and there fore cant read them.

i found that sometimes you can use isobuster to recover the data to your hard drive and then use DVD Decrypter or another burning application to transfer it to another disc.Problem solved. Some discs wont work this way but through trial and error and persistance you should be able to get some done

yeh but the problem is my disc isnt detected at all when in my dvd burner. If I go to My computer E drive its empty as if there is no disc in there. So I am unable to use any program to extract the contents to my hdd.

This is not a uncommon problem with some Asian DVDs - suspect the problem lies with the use of non-english characters in the Table of Contents - Windows will not recognise them.
