Armax with USB drive Problem

I recently got the Action Replay Max(the one with the 16mb memory card, not the usb drive). I have my own usb drive I was hoping to use. Anyway, I got all the software installed and the max drive software recognizes the usb drive. I put some .max save games in there I found from gamefaqs.com and the updated code list. When I start up my PS2 with the armax cd and go to the memory manager It doesnt recognize any of the files on the USB drive. Is there something I have to do to make the software recognize these files or is my USB drive just not compatible? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Also, ARMAX's software does recognize the usb drive, it just shows it having 0 files. I have tried formatting it in fat32, still no files in it. Any other ideas?
