Hi. I just purchased a new DL DVD burner and now need the dual layer blank discs. I've searched online a bit but holy hell, are they expensive! Anyone have a good, reliable place to buy these relatively cheaply? If so, please let me know. Thanks very much.

hi and welcome. what country you in ?. if in UK there's www.svp.co.uk.

i've requested this thread be moved to correct forum (dvd~r media forum); in the meantime have a look in that forum as there's plenty similar threads in there with just the info you need and ppl will be better placed to help you when the thread is in the correct forum

no worries. i think the US guys usually recommend -

www.rima.com
www.supermediastore.com
www.meritline.com

- someone else can happily correct me (or not) but those are some of the main reputable US sites to use.. have a look in the media forum too if you like as media is discussed constantly (with the non-UK media stuff i like to keep my ears open)

I wouldn't trust meritline one bit after some of the horror stories here as well as their poor online ratings. Some folks love them but I sure as hell don't. Both http://rima.com and http://newegg.com are fantastic places to order media. Neither of them have given me one lick of trouble.

SMS.com (supermediastore.com) is where i PERSONALLY buy most of my media online from...i haven't had an ounce of trouble/issue with them in the years i've been buying from them...i would recommend them.

i DID have 1 problem w/ meritline.com as Neph had mentioned, as they sent me the wrong discs and the RMA process, at least for ME, was very troublesome (took over 2 weeks to get a refund) and i had to pay to ship them back to them...so, ended up costing me money with nothing to show for it...i have since STOPPED my purchases from them (meritline.com) regardless if they're a few cents cheaper than supermediastore or rima.com (another good reputable site where i have made a FEW purchases from with absolutely great service and speed of delivery) :)

so, since you are in the U.S., stick with them and newegg.com too~ i actually ordered some of my Ritek Ridata DVD+R DL media (25 pack spindle) from them and those have been very good to me as well as the Verbatim DVD+R DL~ :) i wouldn't use any other 2 brands personally :)

good luck...also, for good local store DL media, keep an eye out when Best Buy/ Office Depot/ Office Max/ Staples/ Compusa, etc.etc.. have their sales on the Verbatim DVD+R DL 10-pack...for $19.99, those are simply THE BEST DL media you can buy locally, i wouldn't trust any of MY important stuff on anything else.

docTY~

As said above, thumbs up for both Rima, SMS, and Newegg. Down for Meritline.

Rima: Fast shipping, great communication, professional, no fakes
SMS: No fake media so far in my experience
Newegg: Fast, and great customer service. I made a coaster (possibly my own fault) with the first disc of a pack once, called for an RMA, and the woman offered to simply give me a $25 credit (on a $35 order) and told me to keep the discs. As it turned out all the remaining discs were good, so I paid $10 in the end for 100 discs!
Meritline: They sold me fake TYs a couple of months ago (actually it was their sister company cdrdvdrmedia.com--same ownership). Took way too long to get the RMA sorted out. They won't see a nickel of my business ever again.

Doea naybody knows where in the EU I can find DVD+R DL discs that they are not exceeding the ? 2,00 limit in a spindle of, lets say, 25???
For the time being in my city they selling per unit from ? 4,00 to ? 8,00!
Personslly I'm interesting for Verbatim or Phillips media.

I just got my order from Supermediastore with no problems and for a great price. Plus if you are going to use DL DVD there is no reason to go cheap. Do it right the first time and you won't have to do it twice which in the end will cost you the same as if you pay for the good stuff.
