I burned a DVD+R using Nero. I burned 15 *.avi video files, each about 250 MB, totaling 3.5 GB using the 'Burn Data on DVD' option in Nero.

The first problem I noticed was that it only let me choose a maximum of 4x burn speed, when I normally get at least 8x for other media (although my maximum speed for my burner and DVDs is 16x).

When the burning was done, I eject the DVD and put it back in. The DVD is unreadable. What is the problem? I've tried it twice, and the same thing occurs.

what discs are you using?
Was your aim to convert the files to mpeg2 so that you can watch them on a standalone player

The discs are Memorex 16x DVD+R.

No, I did not intend on converting the files to MPEG2.

hi...let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

i think the problem is the God-awful CMC discs you're using.. see my logfile analysis -
Quote:
Nero Version: 6.6.0.13
- that's ok, latest is 6.6.0.18 but your problem here is mainly media, it's not Nero at fault..
Quote:
Recorder: <HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4160B>Version: A303
- your firmware is a few versions behind, A306 is here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1923 though i still blame the media

Physical memory : 511MB (523808kB)
Free physical memory: 83MB (85052kB)
Memory in use : 83
- sufficient total memory but you've got virtually no free memory - not good. close down more programs prior to dvd work/burning to free up more memory
Quote:
Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB)
Last address to be written: 2295030 (510:00.30, 4482MB)
- 4482MB is burning too close to outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences thus avoiding outer edge and not sacrificing much space

- oh God, you're using some of the most awful, atrocious utter rubbish dvd media there is. get decent media (se my signature), and see this for reasons not to use CMC media - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/232406
My signature is also full of other links about CMC media...

- hmmm, CMC discs working successfully, a likely story!

I think there be a lesson in there, dont use crap media (anything by CMC) use the UNUSED ones as frisbies. Try using Taiyo Yuden , Verbatim or Ritek.
