Today I installed AnyDVD and CloneDVD - latest versions. I've been using DVD Decryptor with Intervideo DVDCopy2 which works fine but not on the new Sony disks.

AnyDVD seems to work fine. However, when I start CloneDVD and get past the first screen (Copy entire movie), and press "next" on the following screen, the program stops responding and I have to close and restart the program, only to experience the same result.

I should mention that I'm currently backing up my copy of Star Wars III using DVDCopy2 with AnyDVD running and this seems to be working fine. I just thought I'd try CloneDVD since they offer a package deal if purchase both programs.

Any suggestions on CloneDVD would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would uninstall Clone defrag the HD Reboot and Install it again.
Never had a problem like this and I have it installed on 2000,XP Home ,and MCE 2005.

check a different movie and see if it freezes with it. if it doesnt check your anydvd version. there is a problem with an error in anydvd with that disc which was fixed.Note star wars 3 does not have a new protection on it. I would recomend clonedvd if you get it to work because of its speed and compatibility with anydvd and the sony and ripguard protections and great features like removing titles and keeping the menus and no blank video instead.

Hisory of new version.

5.5.5.1, 2005 11 20

- Fix: With some discs (e.g., "Star Wars III") AnyDVD detected the
"Chapter Jump" protection, even if this protection was not present.
This could cause defective copies.

I tried your suggestions to no avail (defrag - uninstall/reinstall). On my Win2k machine AnyDVD works great in conjunction with InterVideo DVDCopy 2, but CloneDVD freezes after the first click e.g. selecting any option on the first screen upon starting the program. Furthermore, after closing the unresponsive program it's still running in "task manager/processes" and won't quite when prompted ("program still running can't shut it down" - something to that effect).

I should note that CloneDVD works fine on my WinXP Pro laptop, but I'd prefer to run it on My Win2k Pro desktop since it has two drives which lend to one click duplication.

I finally resolved the problem. My thought is that Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD was causing the conflict, though I also removed Napster and the Napster burn engine. Now CloneDVD works like a charm.
