I'm the biggest noob when it come to this stuff and hope I'm in the right forum. I am curious why I can back up a movie(mine) and play it on my ps2 with no problems.(no modchips, swapmagic, etc.)but cannot back up a ps2 game the same way? I assume it has to do with the copy protection. I would also assume that the movie industry would be just as hellbent to stop movie piracy (especially Sony!) just as bad as the gaming industry. Is it that the game makers use a different process for burning the games? Like I said I'm a total noob at this and there is probably a simple answer that I have hav'nt got yet so a simple? answer would suffice. Appreciate all comments.

Thankx

Ps2 games have no copyright protection what so ever apart from a code that is needed by the Ps2 console so there is no problems backing them up onto a PC unlike Dvds but getting a game to work is a different thing, since real Ps2 games are pressed with codes on them the Ps2 can identifies wither or not the game is real or a copy by the simple fact that burnt games don't have the code which the Ps2 needs to boot the game , therefor copies don't not work.

Dvd movies have to be able to play in any dvd player, so they can go only so far with copy protection.

Ps2 games can only be played in a Sony ps2, so they put as much protection in it as possible (not enough though :)
