Define best. Do you mean to a DVD5 or to a DL dvd? The best of course would be to use DVD Decrypter or imgburn with AnyDVD running in the background to make a 1:1 copy to a DL dvd. If you want to compress to a DVD5 then rip with dvdd and AnyDVD then use dvd rebuilder with cinema craft encoder, hc encoder, or procoder to encode and burn with Nero or make an iso and burn with dvdd or imgburn. If you want to edit prior to encoding use dvdremake. An encoder will always provide better results video quality wise than a transcoder but will also take longer.
There are tons of best combination softwares/applications if you know how to use them. In contrast, people are entitled to their own experiences and choices of preference. However, I prefer ripping with DVD Decrypter (95%) or DVDFab Decrypter (5%), encode with Nero Recode 2 (99.99% with "Advanced Analysis") then burn with Nero Burning Rom (99% most of the times, which I love it dearly because it can "automatically" book type into DVD-ROM)), and once in a while I'll burn with DVD Decrypter.

I'm with Mort on this....... and we discussed this many time....... DVDDecrypter is still king of the rippers, and then DVDRemake, DVDRebuilder, and CopyToDVD! I haven't used Nero Recode 2 at all but it seems many people do. I get the best quality when I use DVD-RB in CCE mode. I also use DVDFab Express when the quality is 85% or better.
