I've heard that you can do that, but if you're just going to use it for a bigger TOC size, just get DVD Loader v7 or Zone Loader and you'll be fine.

OR... spend $20 and just upgrade to 3.6 like I did and take all your worries away.

it would probably work, if you can find it. But as dave said, all you need is cd loader or dvd loader.

I found a PAL version on eMule, but it doesn't work. CD and DVD bot give "pink" borders when booting with SM2.0...it's a shame. I did find one other version that I might try, it's bundled with the key launcher or something.

Watch out for that key launcher. There is an application called key launcher you use for compiling the independence exploit disc. Just virus scan it or something before decompressing it.

I have read many topics on true crime using swap magic 2.0 on these forums and all say that although true crime loads up once the game starts it goes to the red please insert ps2 disc.

Dont really Wanna Waste discs on a game that isnt going to work

3dluis, u cant use a downloaded swap magic because the original is pressed and cant be backed up. the only way it would work is use an original and swap with the backup of swap magic, which is poitnless.

That's not completely true. If you have an original SM 2.0 you would still have to use DVD Loader, CD Loader, Zone Loader, or Cogswap Loader to get some games to load. If you use an original SM 2.0 to a boot a backup of SM 3.6, you wouldn't need to use any of those other programs to get your backups to load. SM 3.6 boots every backup that I'm aware of, without the aid of those other loaders. In other words if you can pull it off, you'll never need CD Loader, DVD Loader, Cogswap Loader, or Zone Loader, just an extra swap.

One quick question about v3.6 of SwapMagic. Does it play DVD9 games yes (aka Dual Layer) or can only the DSM4 SE Pro modchip do that?

no, you still have to rip DVD9 games down to dvdr size for it to work with swap magic.

And for v12 owners, is there a way to run exploits from the Memory Card such as launchelf....or has all/most of this compatibility been lost when they redesigned the "fat" units? A thread would be helpful. Thanks for the help!

Nope. The exploit doesn't work with v.11 PS2's and later.

Thanks for helping me understand that, Tokijin. XCM HD Connect and HDCombo.com are good sources for external hard drives with v12+ slimlines. Since the Independence exploit is dead for v11+ PSTwo's, the only route for doing things is with a modchip + external HDD or swap magic + USB Extreme. Nothing beats the fast xfer of a HDD, so I will be going with one soon.
