I can't get this backup of Dragon quest 8 to work. I use the swap disc method and This game will work, but it takes forever to load and I mean forever!!! 1-2 minutes to open any door. 20-30 seconds to start a random battle, etc.... I have other back ups that work fine, so I don't think its my laser going bad. I have tried different media like ritek, memorex, tdk, and others. Does anyone else have this problem?? I have tried burning lower then 4x, but I can't seem to get dvd decryter to go below 4x. I have discs that say they are 1-8x, but 4x i the lowest dvd decrypter will write at, even though it lets me choose 1x for a speed setting before hand.

i think it's a bad ISO, just had a simular problem with matrix path of neo, wasted 6 DVD R's on the ISO and it turns out to be a bad image. find a better image of the file. or check for dummy files in the ISO using ISO buster, if none are found then it's definitely a bad image.

Slim Pstwo model no: SCPH-75003 CB (V14) Matrix infinity firmware 1.93 with custom Blue XCM case mod and lights.

Intel Pentium 4(R) Extreme Graphics 2 2.80ghz Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Service pack 2) 792RAM 40GB + external HDD 160GB BENQ DC DW1670 fw 1.03 8x 4x 2.4x DVDRW. Maxell DVD+R 50pk. 8x speed. average speed to burn 8x.

gah....i thought maxell would be good enough but i guess not. Just loading the game takes about 4-5 minutes for me.

I burned it on 4x as well.

Phasma, did you "obtain the game from somewhere else"? Because I too, am "obtaining the game from somewhere else" and it's also 3.89GB, and I'm pretty sure it's the same one. Once I finish "obtaining" it, I'll try burning it, and see how it goes.

3.89gb is the correct .iso size.
There are no dummy files.
I burnt this at 2x on Fujifilm +r (YUDEN)
Works like a charm.
Heres a little trick that might help.

Start dvd decrypter right click your rw drive.
First check for firmware updates.
After that is complete.
Put a quality blank media into your drive.
Goto mode iso write (using dvd decrypter).
IN THE BOX ON THE RIGHT YOU WILL SEE "SUPPORTED WRITE SPEEDS".
These are the speeds that you can Correctly burn (USING THE MEDIA THAT IS INSERTED.)
It will vary from one media maufacturer to another.
(Go with the SLOWEST SUPPORTED SPEED)

I burned the game at 2,4x, it's the slowest mode i can burn with. I have burned several games at the speed and no problems. It's not nice when you have to wait 5 min in the beginning for it to load and 2 min for every other load =).

I too go it to work with better media. Memorex is what did it. That's really odd, because memorex and I have had problems before. The wierder thing is is that the media I was using when I kept making coasters was Ritek... Isn't that supposed to be the best???
