you can use many programs to just rip the movie to the hard drive or you can rip the movie to the hard drive and then transcode the movie only that will fit onto a DVD-5 (single sided, single layer recordable DVD). Start reading and learning:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/183136
in this thread it touchs many subjects..... but pay close attention to the guides: BBMayo and Scubba Pete's guides will teach you all you want to know and how to do it! follow that and become familar with good media..... not crap media like Memorex.... that will save you lots of problems down the road: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
burn your moives at 4x to avoid skipping, pixilations and compatibility with your stand alone so it can read it better, don't burn your movie too close to the edge of the disk (keep it at 4300Kbs) and if you can booktype your drive to make a DVD+R read as a DVD-ROM will make that disk more compatible with most DVD players. Soooooooooo start reading the threads I gave you and you too can become a DVD burning fool!

@bentrinh, have some manners please, you ended this thread with NEVER MIND http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/261213
And now you come back to this one with HUH? Think before you type and you may get some responses.
