I keep getting the cyclic redundancy check yet there is this error above it DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue "failed to write file "C:\WAR)OF_THE_WORLDS\VIDEO_TS.VOB" and right below it, it says Data error(cyclic redundancy check). I burned War of the worlds yesterday and everything came out fine yet today I started getting this error on every single DVD I try to burn. Can anyone tell me what might be goin on and help my try to fix this. Thank you!

Run AnyDVD or DVD43 (one or the other not both) behind DVD Shrink and see if that works.

I am having the same problem as stated above. I don't even get passed the encoding part on some of my movies. I use the latest available free version of DVD Shrink and AnyDVD. I did a cleaning of my lasers in my burners and was able to make it through 1 movie that was giving me problems. I am trying to back up my collection and this is happening with a lot of older movies copied with DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. Could that be the problem? Here is the error that I get:
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Failed to read file ?H:\?
Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

H drive is where the original DVD is and G drive is where I copy to. I have even tried to switch them around and still no luck. Not sure what to do next.

I am having trouble making a back up of a disk that my daughter will be
watching. I'm using AnyDVD to help with the protections. I get a message
that states:

Processing error:

D:/VIDEO_TS/VTS_O1_4.VOB:read error

Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
Ir reading the media has failed, please clean the surface and try again.

I have cleaned the disc and tried several times, but this is what I get
every time.

Do you have any suggestions?

thanks

Try the free download of DVDFab Decrypter, available under the software tab on this website. AnyDVD(current version) should handle any new encryptions. Make sure that your discs are free of dirt, smudges, and scratches.

Well I tried burning War of the Worlds again and it encoded to 49% and still gave me the "Failed to write War_of_the_worlds.vts_01.vob" looking error with the cyclic redundancy check underneath. Like I said I burned it fine with Shrink the first day and the next day I tried burning a copy and thats when I started getting all the errors. Can putting DVD's that are pretty scratched up or smudged in your DVD Rom mess up your DVD rom or anything? I am pretty much at the end of my rope and about to just trash my DVD drive since its probably bad after 3 months of having it since its not encoding anymore. It is the DVD drive and not the DVD-RW drive that reads the actual DVD and encodes it right? Sorry about the multi-posting, I read the rules and I am on track now :) Sorry I am a newbie. Thanks guys.

It means that the disc is scratch, dirty and or possibly a bad pressed. Exchange it for another disc and you should be fine -- especially, War Of The Worlds has no special encrypted protections on it. DVD Decrypter can rip it flawlessly via File Mode.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

I can burn movies on DVD Decrypter in file mode? I thought it was only ISO.

@cgacfox

Seems that it may be a bad disc, dirty, scratched if you are getting CRC error messages.

@hockeyfan
You can rip in file mode in decrypter.

So I decrypt with Decrypter and then change a setting on it to burn it or something? I know Shrink has that option where it says "creat ISO and burn with Decrypter", but when I do that it still has to encode with Shrink and I still get the CRC errors on different percentages of encoding. Thanks
