Hi,first off,i'm using TDK DVD-R 8x
I'm having problems backing up True Crime:NYC
I used dvd decrypter to backup the iso to my pc using READ mode,
then i burnt it using decrypter at 2,4x(the lowest possible for me)
the game boots fine, but after a while in the intro, the game starts repeating some scenes(it's hard to explain)
it's hard to explain but i see a scene, and then, the game sorta skips, and shows me a second of the last scene again, you know...
i've burnt it at 4x then, but the game won't load then, you hear the disc spinning real fast in my PS2
So all that crap bout burning 8x at 4x is wrong...
The same happens with NFS: MW
the game loads fine, but after a while in the intro, the cars keep driving, but the tracks aren't there.... it's like they are driving in the skies...
Can anyone please help me out at what might be the problem???

some more questions:
1)when extracting the iso using DVD Decrypter, does read rate matter?
I mean, should the read rate be at 4x if you want to burn the game iso to dvd later at 4x as well?Cuz now mine is always at MAX.
2) how come none of my 4x burns work using tdk 8x?
3) is it normal that sometimes when burning at,say 2,4x,
the write rate sometimes go back to,say 1,5x for a couple of seconds and then goes back up to 2,4x?
Please someone help me out here,i'm trying to find a solution...

But worth a try if you really wanna play if it keeps glitching
Question Answers :
1) No it doesnt
2) Maybe its a fake disk thing, i've heard of those fake disk that burn not itsa speed
3) Yeh its normal, happens to everyone, its the buffer

Yeah I'm having troubles with TCNYC too. I decrypted and burned to DVD. It only played the intro where the guy is like "this is Luxoflux, get it right" or something like that. After the intro, PS2 tells me to load a formatted PS2 disc. So next I tried rebuilding, using DVD Decrypter, ISO Buster, and CD/DVD-Rom Generater. Still got the same message.
Now I have SwapMagic 2.0 (got it like 3.5 years ago). And I also have a burnt copy of SwapMagic 3.0. I tried loading with 2.0, then with 3.0 (have to load 2.0 first then swap to 3.0 then to the game). It still didn't work. Do we just need to just get SwapMagic 3.6 and call it a day? I get the feeling that's what the problem is but not sure.

what also happens is,they say something in a cutscene and so you hear the voices, but the thing they said happened a minute ago,so like the last minute of the cutscene, there isn't anything said anymore, when they really should be saying that stuff..

i use some cheap media and burn it 2x (lowest it can go) and it works fine for me, bcuz a lil about 10-15 sec part of a scene slowed down and skips. but after that its all fine..
burn it on 2x!!! 4x is now to high.. i wont risk it so i keep it safe by burning it to 2x everytime when i make backup of my games!
and thanks for lettin gme know TDK, i wont try that media. :D

OK I just went and got the SwapMagic 3.3 disc (same as 3.6 without USB support) and True Crime worked perfectly. No rebuilding. To fellow nubees, I think the main thing to do is get that Swap Magic disc. What happened in my case is I use to burn games like a year ago using my Swap Magic 2.0 with no problems. Then I stopped burning for a while and have recently started re-burning again and I started having problems. Basically the games got more sophisticated and that outdated Swap 2.0 disc couldn't handle the new and improved anti-burn games. So my advice is to first get the latest Swap Disc or mod chip and that should eliminate most problems. Every now and then a particular game may need special attention but for the most part you should be fairly successful with backing up your games.
