I guess I was one of the original purchasers of DVDX Copy and enjoyed it very much. I redid one computer and now have a new Dell. Problem is, I can't install the software and the company is out of business. ANYONE out there that can give me information on how to install or another program as good !!! Thanks

I have the same problem and the main question is where or what is the missing REG file ? I have a valid License and Passcode but the last step is for an online or manual Product Registration that then creates some *.reg file ? I have a full system backup but can't locate this required file ? Ideas welcome.

GUYS GUYS forget about DVD X Copy theres much better software out there even freeware. x copy has been off the market over a year now is way out dated and cant do the newer sony movies by its self so consider moving on to bigger and better software a quit living in the past.

dvd shrink and or DVD Decrypter ( freeware) great programs

better stuff

CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD ( this is the best program on the market) will do all the newer movie via AnyDVD updates for life and is only 59 bucks for both

heres some links and guides on downloading the software and how to use it ,very easy

http://bbmayo.home.comcast.net/

remember to use good blank media as in Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and burn at 4x

heres a link to the x copy fourm you might want to read also BUT its gonna cost you big time to get new License number so my advice dump it and run

Afterdawn has an XCopy forum.

There's also a link down at the bottom of the page here.

Personally I'd use something more up to date that didn't add warnings to my movies. Shrink/Decrypter is a good way to go. That combination will handle any of the movies your program will. You do have to spend a couple of minutes getting things set up though. You could also try DVDFab Decrypter for the newer copy protections. XCopy went out of business awhile back so this program can't handle the newer copy protections showing up.

I use Nero Recode2 along with AnyDVD. That handles pretty much everything with excellent quality as well.

I had replies from helpdesk@xcopy-intlsupport.ca and after supplying my license, details (lots of original purchase details) - they gave me 3 activations. Initially I was still getting an Error 8 when trying to activate. (Error 100 seems to be one they can not assist with and is 'fatal'.) Finally the activation worked. You can also check your license passcode/file at http://secure.smarterimage.com/solo/customers/forgotpw.asp. To be sure your details are still on their web server from when 321 Studio closed. I can now at least use the xCopy Platinum - although I am considering something new for Faster copying and latest ripper aids. Will spend that 100 usd later..

I too had an original version of X Copy reinstalled my system and it would not take my code. I have been very pleased with the AnyDVD and Clone DVD. I have a lot more control over my copy qualities. I have also used my Roxio 7.7 with AnyDVD with good results.
