OK, I hooked up a LG-GSA-5163D external to my laptop. I set the booktype to DVD-ROM, and it worked good.I burnd a couple of movies and everything was good. I shut down for the night. The next day I started to burn again, After 1 burn I don`t know why, I checked to see how the burn came out, but I did. It was a coaster. Went into Decrypter to check booktype,it was set back to NORMAL.reset it back to DVD_ROM and it was OK. It happend Three times. DO I have to reset the booktype on a EXTERNAL after every shutdown, or is there someway to set it and forget it. It has me worred, and if I can get some input from AD,members it sure would be great..
Thank You.

Andy

Anytime I close Decrypter I have to reset the booktype. So I really don't think you have anything to worry about. Just remember to do it each time.

The same for me. Once I have set the booktype in decrypter my burner stays set to DVD-ROM until I have to reboot. I can set it in decrypter and burn with CloneDVD and it stays DVD-ROM. Cool. I just remember to reset every time I restart the computer.

Cheers.
