yes all you need is a network adaptor and a fast internet connection cable/(a)dsl. When thats setup try going online with a game and it will go to a setup screen to configure your connection.

What do i need for a router to work?
i really dont want to run a cord all through the house. but its it possible to not do this...

if you wanna do it wirelessly it'll cost you a lot of money 'cause you'll need to get a wireless gaming adapter on top of the wireless router that the ps2 adapter would hook up with rj45 and that would connect to your wireless router, or you can just run the cord and save yourself money (I'd say about $100 worth maybe more). I don't know what you mean by "what do I need to make the router work".

no, if you run a cord straight from the modem you don't need a router. Router is so that you can have your pc and your ps2 online simultanuosly. If you do plug the modem straight into the ps2 then make sure you power cycle the modem (unplug power wait 30secs-1min and plug power back in of the modem) before you setup the ps2 network connection.

hey
sory to sound like i dont know anything about this stuff, but i dont. anyway, my modem only has one outlet so does that mean that a have to unplug the wire evrytime i want to play online?

and also, do they make something that splits the outlets?

or should i just buy another modem?

thanks

You could try a 10/100 Base T splitter....

I'd assume so. The splitters that I've dealt with worked for all types of modems. You're using DSL or cable internet, right?

Yep, then plug the ethernet cord to the pc and the other cord to the PS2. One thing to keep in mind...(from my experience) most splitters only support 1 connection at a time.

Your ISP will be from whoever your internet subscription is through. If you have Cox, then that is what you'll use.

Do what I did. Just save a network configuration on your mem. card and start playing the games. Don't bother creating a username on central station.

Thanks to Daniel_G i discovered that only free-for-all server games are like this - need no username. You must create a login account with the central station disc.!
