i have a great graphics card for my computer, it has an svideo connection spot. i was thinking of going to best buy and buying a ps2 to svideo cable adapter to try and hook it up. what is the best way to go. does the computer need to be on when trying to run the ps2 and the monitor? thx guys

first make sure that the svideo on the video card is an in port and not an out port. Second, you will need the pc to be on if you're gonna do it through the vid card. If you want to play ps2 on your pc monitor I'd recommend getting a VGA box.

Being a comp tech I can tell you right now that if that card has one svid slot it is a output for hooking your computer to TV. not an input for hooking video to the pc. You can buy many video cards with inputs that will allow what you want but yes the pc will have to be on and the program that comes with the card will have to be opened aswell to emulate the inputs much like a rfswitch. For what you are trying to do it would be cheaper to get the box that converts the 3 plugs to monitor adapter.
