Hi all..I just got my kids slim ps2 chiped today. Cost £60 im not sure what chip was used all i know was there was a lot of wires involed as i watched him do it.
My question is he said there is a problem with my version with the voltage and a chip burning out which could inturn melt the laser,
do and of you know if this is a regular thing or was it just somthing they have to say.

Slim PS2 have had some problems with the lens, especially when they are moded. Just keep it in good shape, and don't use the cheapest CD/DVD:s (at backups). And try not to use scratched games.

should have had him install a laser fix with the chip.
Something like Summone or Comsoft V4 fix
this will prevent it from burning out.
As far as the overheating issues with the slim i would suggest
pointing a small house fan at it while in use and also
standing it verticle for less surface area to keep hot by touching
something else.
The laser issue is common on the V12 slimline, and is made
worse with the additional heat of the chip. That is wy a laser
fix is needed.
