What is the least expensive blank media that has been used successfully on a regular basis to back up games and what brand is it? Where is the best place to find this brand of dvds? Thanks for any input.

I need help with this also. I just bought some Verbatims on sale at Bestbuy and successfully backed up RE4 but the initial load time is a lot slower than with the original disc. I've used Maxell's and Riteks and never had this problem before. So Verbatims are no good or should I just burn at around 2x with these and no higher?

Some games don't like to be burnt at 2x no matter what the media.. Infact some media has problems at 2x..
Even though you may tell your burning to burn at 2x it may be burning at 2.4x which is where the problems are... Some media even says on it not to burn at 2.4x so if your choices are 1x 2.4 4x etc then I'd go with the 1x or 4x before the 2.4x some burners just don't like the 2.4x speed

I tried burning at 4x with 2 games and neither worked. I believe it was burning at 4.1x or something. Then I starting doing 2x they work but RE4 loads really slow compared to the original and Time Crisis 3 is a little slow and the cinema's start playing then cut off 2secs later then goes straight to gameplay and the music skips. So my burners max burn speed is 8x. So are these Verbatims no good or should I try different burn speeds? Also this is the first time I used DVD decrpyter to backup and burn backups so maybe thats the problem. Because when I used Recordnow Max I never really had problems but then again this is the first time I tried Verbatims I always used Maxell's or Ritek's...

Nope I've never downloaded them I'm ripping my own games and they are all scratch free so no problem there. I'm using these Verbatim 16x DVD-R's I bought yesterday for $8 at Bestbuy. My burner is IOMagic 8X but I've never had any problems. I'm going to try a different speed and then try my old software Recordnow Max...
