Hello - I have a Sony DVD bunrner and I am having trouble burning some home-made DVD's. I can make copies of SOME DVD's burnt from other computers, but others I can't! Is there a reason for this? I'm sure they arent copy protected, but if there a program that I could buy or download to get around this? Thanks...

This is one of those, "how long is a piece of string" questions.

Incompatibility; is the most likely answer, I would suggest you download DVD Identifier, check out the disc' you can't burn, and see if a pattern emerges.

I tried out a small number of, a different brand recently, (good quality) and found out with some discs' I couldn't even copy my own copies?? :)

And what media (discs') are you using?

more info is needed.

good luck.

I am using blank DVD-R and DVD+R's, it doesnt matter which one I use. The original copies of the Animated Series (X-Men to be exact) that I am trying to copy is on a Fujifilm DVD.

What programs are you trying to use to rip the dvd to the hard drive?

What burner do you have?

What is the exact type of media - name, burn speed?

If you're making an exact copy from a copy why not just either do a disc copy in Nero or use DVD Decrypter ISO READ Mode then ISO WRITE Mode to the blank...

My DVD drives are (D): Samsung CDRW/DVD SM 308B (Standard DELL Order Part) and the Burner is (F) Sony DVD RW DW-Q30A. The correct drives were selected, and I even tried switching them around - it still says "Instert into D" no matter what I do. The blank DVD's I'm using are Fujifilm DVD+R and DVD-R up to 8x write speed or Teon DVD-R up to 8x Write Soeed. The DVD I am trying to copy is a Fujifilm DVD-R up to 8x Write speed - however, it has the same error message no matter what DVD I copy.

I just tried the DVD Decrypter - when I select my DVD Drive, "F", it says "Failed to create directory at F:/DVD/(1)". If i try to continue anyways, it says "All of the files in directory F will be deleted. are you sure"? Should I continue anyways? What else should I try?

well in decrypter are you creating a ISO first by reading it to your C: Drive (HARD DRIVE) and then Write the ISO to your F Drive? (DVD-RW)

if it isn't recognizing your F drive right for some reason try checking to see if there is a firmware update for your burner by going to TOOLS DRIVE CHECK FOR FIRMWARE UPDATES in DVD Decrypter..

It will bring you to a firmware site were you can see if your firmware is up to date.. you may need to update the firmware...
