Here's my problem: Copy and burn run fine. DVD identifier indicates the DVD is a DVD-ROM. The DVD runs on 2 different computers but does not run on my DVD player. Is it my player?
Sounds like it could be your player, but you should test it on another. I would recommend a differennt media as well. Try Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim or Maxell (MIJ).
I would say it's your DVD player. Notice that alot of cheapy players were available over the last two years like the APEX, CYBERHOME, ETC. Well at the time these cheap DVD players surfaced, most name brand models read capabilities had not been updated to include the inprint "DVD+R,DVD-R,DVD-RW,MP3,CD" Like newer players of all brand names do now. Notice older players may display a short list media options i.e. "DVD VIDEO/CD PLAYER" I have a SONY DVD player that I purcahsed in 2002 as part of a home theater system. It too is very some timey and does not read DVD copied media well. While the cheap APEX $40.00 player I purchased for my son two years ago plays everything. Most old stand alone DVD players will play DVD-R but even some of them don't and if its an older DVD-ROM player, you may want to update the firmware. The next time you purchase a DVD player bring a DVD copy along with you and try it out on the player of your choice to make sure. I have seen new cheap players that will not play copied DVD media too.
Oh, I failed to mention that I too have the SONY DRU-800A installed to my DELL PC. "Great Burner". I also only use SONY DVD-R for my recording (duplicating). I tell you the quality is major differnce, you will notice. I recommend this media. Yeah, I've tried the bumb media, you name em, they don't compare.
