I burned my first DL disk today using a Verbatim DL disk. I used Decrypter ISO read then ISO write. I used AnyDVD in the background. It appeared to work fine.

I have 3 DVD players at home. The disk will only play on my very old, non-progressive scan Pioneer DVD player. If I try it in my 5 year old JVC and new Sony 995, the movie (War of the Worlds) will not run. It plays the Dream Works intro (the boy sitting on the moon) but then stops. I cannot access the menu or fast forward to another chapter. Anyone have any ideas? The Sony plays every ?movie only? I copy using a Taiyo Yuden disk with Decrypter and Shrink.

I checked the booktypes. The original movie says "DVD-Rom". The Verbatim DL copy says booktype "DVD+r DL". Could this be the problem? I have a Sony 700 burner and Nero. I used Decrypter to burn the disk. Nero will allow me to change booktype, but Decrypter does not list Sony. Any ideas? Nero says it will burn DL's too.

jaehomo,

Your sony DRU-700A is a rebadged lite-on SOHW-832S. You can booktype dvd+r media to dvd-rom by selecting lite-on as your make of dvdrw in dvd decrypter. Booktyping to dvd-rom will hopefully resolve your playback problems.

Even better yet, use the lite-on booktype utility to automatically booktype all your dvd+r media to dvd-rom. Here's a link and there is also a link to a usage guide on the page. http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=83441
