I HAVE A SONY DRU-800A AND THE SPECIFICATIONS MENTIONS THAT THIS BURNER CAN WRITE DVD-R AT 1X. I HAVE A MAXELL DVD-R AND THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THIS MEDIA SAYS THAT I CAN BURN SPEED 1X-8X .BUT I USED DVD DECRYPTER WITH NERO 6 AND THE LOWEST SPEED IS 4X ..I PUT ANOTHER MEDIA, A MEMOREX THAT CAN WRITE 1X-4X AND THE DVD DECRYPTER SAYS LOWER SPEED IS 4X AGAIN.... I WANT TO BURN AT 1X FOR A GREAT DATA RECORDER OF THESE GAMES...
IF THIS DVD BURN DVD-R AT 1X, HOW I CAN BURN AT 1X ???
That is odd, I have a DRU-700A and can burn at 1X (with some programs)
If you use 8X then burning at 4X should work fine.
But not with the 4X DVD's
You are putting in the disc and letting the system read the blank
first before you try to pick a speed right?
But just so you know, even if you set DVD Decrypter to 1X it will still burn at about half the speed that the DVD is rated, which in the case of 8X DVD's would be about 3.8X on mine.
steimy, dvd decrypter always burns at what speed I set it to and not half the speed so it's kinda weird that you mentioned that (maybe I'm still using an older version?). Joel, in dvd decrypter on the right window, what does it say as the supported write speeds for your media?
I INSERT THE DISC MAXELL 1X-8X AND IN THE RIGHT WINDOWS (DVD DECRYPTER) SAYS: MEDIA SUPORT 4X, 6X, 8X... AND I INSERT A MEMOREX 1X-4X AND SAYS MEDIA SUPORT 4X.....THIS IS WITH MY SONY DRU-800A THAT SUPOSED THAT WRITE DVD-R AT 1X-16X...BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.
IF I PUT ANOTHER DVD BURNER THAT I HAVE (IS A LG)WITH THE MEMOREX DISC..THE RIGHT WINDOW SAYS ..MEDIA SUPORT 2.4X,4X...
BUT THE BIG QUESTION IS....IF MY DVD BURNER HAVE THE CAPACITY TO BURN AT 1X..HOW I CAN DO THIS ????IS NECESASRY BURN THE DVD-R AT 1X TO OBTEIN BETTER RESULTS WITH PS2 backups????
WEstar, very odd indeed.
I set mine to 1X and it always burns at half the speed of the
DVD i use. But since they always work doing an 8X DVD at 4X
i just never really questioned it.
If you use an 8X DVD then 4X should work fine as long as you have
quality media. I have never used Maxcell mysself. But have used
the TDK 4X.
But of course you should not burn the 4X DVD at 4X, that will just not give you good results.
Do you know if you have the latest firmware (KY06)?
http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/dru800adwn.htm#dwns that link may help, you can get the latest firmware and a drive
diagnostic tool from sony.
