							yes, that is what I get...not that this makes a big difference, but I am female. I think the part that confuses me the most is where to save it. Like reading, and viewing where on your tutorial it says backup....UI put the top one as My LITE ON burner, and then the 2nd one is where I get confused, I clicked on c:, then saved it in a folder I named other.

							Thats fine to save it there. Shrink just needs to decode and make the files smaller so you can fit it on the dvd you are burning to. I think whompus made a great point earlier, are you trying to use a blank dvd that you tried to use before on a failed backup? Or is this a brand new blank dvd?

							helpme77, what seems to be the prob.
When you open the box you have these options!

 if you select the burner it will burn to a dvd disc.
 if you select an iso (image file) it will create one and burn to disc
 if you select folder it will burn to a folder on your hard drive.

 the other one under neath just means that when the program does all the encoding etc, it require a temporay folder to store the infomation on your hard drive before it burns it to your disc.The locationis only important to you for the reason that after you burn your disc you can erase that folder.Or leave it on your hard drive and access it later to make another copy of the movie you have just done.

							Well it seems to be doing ok, I am done with the encoding, and inserted a blank disc, it said burn process started at 4x(5,540KS/s) and is at 86% of writing tracks, which it has never made it this far!

							Well, so far, thanks to all of your help, I have burned 4 DVDs, I will invest in some better quality DVD-R/RW's, but I didn't go expensive the first time around, cause I just wanted to make sure it worked. Two more questions....how do you erase a previously writtten on DVD-RW? Also, is anyone familiar with transferring video from a digital camcorder, to a DVD? I have Windows Movie Maker, and I just got my firewire port installed, along with the cable. I can transfer the movie onto my pc, but have been unable to tranfer it to a DVD. Thanks for all of your help!!!

							If you boot up Nero Burning Rom, get rid of the 'new compilation' screen and click on 'RECORDER' , you are given the option to erase an RW disk.
Many burning progs. will give you a reminder if an RW disk is not empty and offer to erase it for you.
 If you enable Nero from within DVDshrink, this is the case.

 I find DVD RW media too expensive and too slow and as an aside I find that they become unusable after a few uses...but thats another thread ;)

							@HelpMe77
Buying a disk that is on the drive manufacturers list, that is highly regarded on this forum, that can be used in your stand alone player and burning at 4X maximum seems to be best.
 If the disks are rated higher speed, reserve that speed for creating data disks.
 I find RW format of limited utility-except for trouble shooting, which only proves how wise you were to have them on hand during your trials!
 I buy 4.7 Verbatim,Ritek,Maxell and of course the revered TY, all rated 4x or better, but only burn 4x, lest the wrath of Creaky descend on me.
