did you try a different blank disc? maybe the disc you're using is messed up? Also, are you burning an ISO or trying to burn on the fly?

I've used 3 TDK DVD-R and none of them worked, always worked before the update.
I'm burning a iso, tried DVD Decrypter and Nero, both gave the error
then i tried burning a regular audio cd using Nero and that worked like a charm...
I really don't know what's wrong here...

also,i updated the firmware from version to G7H9 to G7V9
because that what they suggested at Benq,but....
and here's the thing, the benq brand is not on my DVD-R station,so i think they gave me the wrong version, and i should have gone with the bulk version which updates to version G7L9
Could this be the problem or not? the strange thing stays that writing regular cd's works...

also, could it be that by upgrading to new firmware,my tdk's TTG02 aren't supported anymore? They worked on my previous firmware, but know when i check the benq site it's not in the compatible media list anymore...

you may want to try to reflash it with the G7L9 and
see if that works.
Updating the firmware would give you more media compatibility
and not less.

i can just do that? Download that G7L9 firmware and use it the same way as the G7V9 firmware,it will overwrite itself and no problems?

it should. (although some drives don't let you downgrade firmware)

I would like to update my firmware also but there are 2 versions. So should go for the newest one or what. Nero info tool tells me I have IDE1008 but nothing more. On the IOmagic firmware site it has IDE1008_0059 and IDE1008_0060. So I guess the 0060 is the newest one if I upgrade if it screws up can I do something to get the old version back? I need to upgrade because I bought some Verbatim 16X DVD-R's and when I backup my PS2 games they take forever to load and has sound skips. This is the first time I've used this brand before so I don't know if it's the brand or what because when I used Maxell's and Ritek's I never had problems. Also if my burner only supports writing at 8X's should this 16X discs work if I burn slower than 8X?
EDIT: I just saw my firmware is really old. Version 0052 and all the website has is 0059 and 0060. So will I be safe?
