i have any dvd running in the background and was not able to rip with shrink....so i tried dvd decryptor and operation was completed successfully....when i tried to open files with shrink... i got an error message?!? i looked quickly at other suggestions for problem solving and may be unfamiliar with terminology and i've never used dvd decryptor to burn ...have always used nero...am i missing something...same thing happened with madagascar...i have the files, just can't get them shrunk and burned...any help would be appreciated...thanks!

Do you have the latest update for AnyDVD 5.6.1.1.

If you have AnyDVD make sure it is latest update 5.6.1.1
Shrink should then be able to analyze movie (open disk)without using Decryptor at all.
If that doesn't work, would keep AnyDVD in the background but use DVD Decryptor in file mode and select "Movie only" from the options under one of the menues. Then close Decryptor and start Shrink, click reauthor (not open disk or file). A browse tree will open. Navagate to where the movie only decrypted files are. Shrink should recognize these files and analyze. Then can delete unwanted audio steams and subtitles before shrinking to size. Save output as image and burn with Decryptor or as Files and burn with Nero.

in addition to the other replies, re Madagascar, i did that one effortlessly last night with DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.0 (free) then Shrunk with DVD Shrink as normal. what i did do was use my dvd-rom/cd-write combo drive (like i do for most of my ripping); didn't try to rip it on any of my dvd burners as i'd done the movie already but it's always nice to have a couple of optical drives..as if a movie won't play ball on one drive you always have a choice of drives to use..
