I'm having problems booting Battlefield 2.

I ripped the image from another burnt game (I'm only re-burning it because I had to add the DNAS code). The disc I got it from still boots fine but the one I made (using DVD Decrypter) didn't. I also burned it to a CompUSA 2x DVD-R (i.e. crappy generic).

I had the same problem with a copy of Jak X I bought. I couldn't boot the game (the PS2 went into an infinite load cycle and would never start the game).

Anything I can change here? Media, burn speed, etc.?

Exactly right, change the media and burn speed.

You can check to see if you're making bad burns with Nero CDSpeed, too, but it seems people rarely make the effort to do so even though it's an excellent diagnostic tool.

Actually, I went ahead and bought the new media and re-burned it at a lower speed (the media burnt at 8x and I lowered it to 4, I wasted 2 discs too because I forgot to set it to a lower speed when I started the burning process).

However, I'm starting to think it was because I burned the wrong file (I burnt the .ISO file and not the .MDS file). Once I had the burner burn the .MDS file, the game booted just fine.
