ATTN: Newbies & those that doesn't have the latest from AnyDVD

Looks like SKY HIGH carried another similar RipGuard protection just like "Madagascar". To solve the problem, you'll need VobBlanker.

Easy way is to have VobBlanker "BLANK" out PGC 2 and PGC 3 of VTS_01_*.VOB, then "PROCESS" and you'll have a successfully working full disc within 35 minutes. I guarantee you..!! Again, that is what I did and it works for me -- got the full disc, tested/watched it and it plays flawlessly.

1) rip it with DVD Decrypter via File Mode

2) open up VobBlanker, click on VTS_01_*.VOB and "BLANK" out PGC 2 & PGC 3, click "PROCESS" -- now sit back and relax it will be done shortly.

3) import into Nero Recode 2 and just encode it as usual (or you can import into DVD Shrink and shrink it the usual process)

4) now burn this baby (SKY HIGH) with any of your burning engines. (That's it.... easy as sippin' on some Hennessey).

Enjoyed it and happy burning..!!!

I was trying Sky High all day and it would start to play then skip right to the end. When I tried to decrypt with DVDecryptor VobBlanker would give me an error about menus when I tried to open the file so I decrypted with DVDFab. Opened the file with VOB and hit Process - left everything on default. Used DVD Shrink with Nero to burn the movie. Everything worked great.

I always recommend ripping in "File" mode because you have much more "Editing" power the that way with programs such as VobBlanker, MenuShrink, IFOEdit, and PgcEdit.

anydvd 5.6.1.1 was just released and you no longer need to use vobblanker etc. although sky high was not listed and may not be able to be copied correctly just yet.

5.6.1.1, 2005 11 27

- New: Added detection and removal of a new type of protection
"MacroVision RipGuard" as found on "Madagascar WideScreen" R1 (US)
or "Vet Hard" R2 (Netherlands) to the option to remove
"Protection based on unreadable Sectors"
Note: RipGuard could be copied together with elby CloneDVD2 since
AnyDVD version 5.4.1.1, but this new version supports drag and drop
of all files from DVD to harddisk as well!
- New: Added support for a new version of the Sony Arccos protection
as found on "Seinfeld Season 6 Disc 3" R2 (German) to the option to
remove "Protection based on unreadable Sectors"
- New: Information Window now shows MacroVision RipGuard, if it was
detected.
- New: Information Window now displays, if "Error zones between files"
have been removed, like on "Resident Evil - Apocalypse" R1 (US

Read "carefully" to what I've wrote and stated, and I guarantee that you'll have a successfully working full disc within 45 minutes. Again, here is what you or any newbies needed to do.

@pkoontz

A big you're welcome. Anyways, I'm glad you're able to succesfully backup SKY HIGH by using the simple guide I wrote. See, it wasn't hard at all -- pretty simple and sweet.

@any Newbies,

VobBlanker, PgcEdit, PSL2 Plugins, FixVTS and IFOEdit are very useful and of course they are all FREE..!!

@cj0920

I've stated it clearly on my earlier (above) post already, however, I'll try to do a few more explanation if you're still not sure what to do. If you follow them carefully, I guarantee that you'll have a successfully working "full disc" backup in no time. Here's what you need to do.

A) create a folder name SKY HIGH and hit ENTER to save on your hard drive, now go into your folder SKY HIGH and create a sub-folder name VIDEO_TS and hit ENTER to save it inside SKY HIGH

B) create another folder name NEW_SKY HIGH and another VIDEO_TS inside NEW_SKY HIGH (do the same thing as above)

1) Rip the movie using DVD Decrypter on Mode, File F into your hard drive. (Make sure your "destination" is your VIDEO_TS folder inside your SKY HIGH folder, and your "source" is where the original movie is located [dvd-rom drive or your dvd burner]). When you're ready just hit DECRYPT. Sit back and relax until DVD Decrypter successfully ripped/decrypted all of the dvd files into your hard drive, then you can closed DVD Decrypter now. **(This shouldn't be hard and it should only take about 12 - 14 minutes only).

2) now open up VobBlanker, (a) on "INPUT" - browse to your VIDEO_TS folder that is inside SKY HIGH folder from your hard drive (this is your dvd files that DVD Decrypter ripped earlier). (b) on "OUTPUT" - browse to your VIDEO_TS folder that is inside NEW_SKY HIGH folder (this is your new SKY HIGH folder that you'll need to import/load into DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 to "encode or compress"). (c) click on VTS_01_*.VOB, you'll see PGC 1, PGC 2 and PGC 3 on the display below, now HIGHLIGHT ONLY PGC 2 & PGC 3 and click on "BLANK", then just click on "PROCESS". Now sit back, relax until VobBlanker is successfully completed (this process should take about 10 - 15 minutes only, depending on how fast is your computer). Once it's done, just exit it out.

3) now open up DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2, (a) import your VIDEO_TS folder inside NEW_SKY HIGH folder and just encode or compress with your usual process of encoding/shrinking. (b) once you're done, you can burn this baby on any of your desire burning engines. That's it.. it's a piece of cake, easy as sippin' on a Corona.

Again, if you follow these steps exactly and carefully, I GUARANTEE 100% that you'll have a successfully working "full disc" backup.

The thrust of this thread was a simple method to copy newer movies such as Sky High with an easy solution proposed by Tinmanic9.

I do not doubt that other methods work but solutions as proposed by alkohol appear cumbersome.

I have never had the necessity to use programs such as VobBlanker or PGEdit over many hundreds of rips/burns.

Tinmanic9 method is simple and it works - I've used it on a number of occassions for problematic movies.

Hmmmm... let see, cumbersome = clumsy, unwieldy, burdensome, vexatious.

@colw

Now can you tell me which step/steps on the mini guide looks cumbersome to you? And or what part of the guide don't you understand?

As you can see, I clearly stated that my mini guide is for newbies and those that didn't have AnyDVD and or any newbies that did not have any successful backup using other methods only. Hmmmm..... I guess you've never used VobBlanker before then.

@ alkohol - Peace - no put down intended.

The guides you have produced and help provided to newbies are great and much appreciated.

Guess my point is that there are more than one way to skin a cat and other methods can be equally effective.

The method proposed by Tinmanic9 was an effective, simple method that tended to be overlooked in the resulting discussion.

alkohol- I'm having a problem with VobBlanker...
After I use DVD Decrypter (Mode-File-F) It's seems successful
But when you state in:

2) (now open up VobBlanker, (a) on "INPUT" - browse to your VIDEO_TS folder that is inside SKY HIGH folder from your hard drive (this is your dvd files that DVD Decrypter ripped earlier).
The input in VobBlanker is looking for a VIDEO_TS.IFO file which is not there.

What am I doing wrong?

The "VIDEO_TS.IFO" file is located inside the "VIDEO_TS" folder DVD Decrypter created. Did you select "All Files" when you ripped in "File" mode or just the "Main Movie Files"?
