I just want the damn recorders to work in a DVD format. I know that in the days of VHS or cassettes that any tape worked and worked repeatedly. Sure some worked better than others but you could abuse them and they kept on working with few failures.

Then along came digital and bragged of permanent nearly indestructable format. Well I have found you have to baby a DVD or a CD much more than you did their cassette and VHS cousins.

I also have noticed all the compatibility problems in recording and playback-hence coaster creators.

You have all the different dics but thats just the beginning. I have an ILODVDR05 recorder that claims to require +R discs. Well that does no work.

The fix-- I have told to try a different manufacuturer of disc. I bought a five pack of memorex and I guess I am suppose to go out there and buy different brands till one works.

Sometimes technology get in the way of the job.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT BETWEEN THE MANUFACTURERS OF DISCS?

First of all ... MEMOREX IS CRAP ! .. they sell great VHS tapes, but garbage DVD media

Try some Verbatim, Sony or Maxell discs ..

There are many differences between disc manufacturers .. several being: The type of dye used, the application of the dye (evenly is best) and the quality of the disc plastic (this affects the amount of 'wobble' or 'jitter')

And secondly the ILO05 is notorious for not reading ANY discs. This is a known issue with the ILO05. Before wasting anymore money on different brands of discs, take the ILO05 back and get something else.
