I have an un-modded ps2 with hd advance 2.0
I have 2 questions
1) do i need a modchip or swap magic to back up dvd games, cant i just use my P.C.
2) i see that hd advance 3.0 is out and it says that it can back up dvd games, is this true or do i need to mod or do anything special for this to work?
I know that us newbies are idiots so thanks for the patience

First OF all dude, if you wanna use HD ADVANCE 2.0 , you'd need a HARDDRIVE. IF you have a Slimline ps2, than you need a usb hard drive + usb extreme, IF you have a fat ps2 than you need a Harddrive (prefelly be a MAXWELL harddrive), a network adaptor, and hd advance 2.0/3.0 .
Basically, you need to put the harddrive onto the ps2
Slimline ps2= just plug the usb hardrive and play
Fat Ps2 - Connect the harddrive to network adapter and put network adaptor in. For more info, check the official hd advance site (check google)
Than your second question,
You can back up your ps2 games with, DVD Decrypter (which you can download in this site) and a blank DVD-R.
After you back the game up, IF you have a hd advance 3.0, simply load hd advance 3.0 and press import and put your ps2 back up in and let it copy it to the harddrive, than you can copy it
Hope this help :P

Ok, Back up the game using DVD Decrypter, than load up HD ADVANCE 2.0, and press convert, than put your ps2 game in and wait till it saves the game to the hard drive attach to the ps2, than you can play it off your hard drive.

in case you need them, here are some instructions
on how to use DVD Decrypter
http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html
other tips:
1. always use good quality media like the one's listed below
Philips,TDK,Taiyo Yuden,Ritek,Verbatim Datalife
i like the 8X DVD-R for all my games
2. shut down anything that could be running in the backround like anti-virus software and do not use the PC for anything while burning
3.always make sure that your burners firmware is up to date
