I've just had to buy a new PS2 as I dropped my old v3 +messiah modded one down the stairs. I've bought a SCH 70003 black slimline flip top PS2 and i've ordered a swap tool for it off e-bay. I should of really got the swap magic 3.6 disc as well but I didn't. Was just wondering if I could use my old DVD Region X disc as the swap disc as I used to use on my v3 with neo chip installed before I put the messiah in it. If not is it possible to burn a copy of the swap magic disc as I've seen some torrent where you can download it from. I was on the understanding that the swap disc needed to be a proppe pressed disc with bad sectors to initially boot the machine.

I don't think you can use the region x because the discs don't stop spinning on the slims (not 100% sure on this so I may be wrong) as far as the swap magic goes yes, you do need to buy one as a backup won't work (if you could just use a backup of swap magic without any kind of boot disc why wouldn't you just be able to use a backup of a game without something to boot it) so in other words, you need some kind so of boot disc or mod to play backups.

Will try the DVD region x disc tonight to see if stops the disk spinning. I think it does as you have to take the disk out to put the region 1 etc dvd you want to watch. How easy is it to mod the playstation without the proper tool i.e. tape and bits of card. Is a just a case of frigging the sensor which detects the door open or what.

It looks like the version of DVD Region X I have isn't compatible at all with the new slim line PS2 it comes up with 'Please insert PS2 disc'. Just out of intrest does the swap magic 3.6 disc let you play other region DVD discs or get rid of the dvd green screen when using rgb output. If not is there a mod you can do on the new slimline PS2 to correct this like you could with the older version. Think there was a one link mod I did to my v3.

I've now got my self swap magix disc and two tool sets one plastic and one metal. Any one point me to installation instructions for thease metal tools they are a bit different. Tool C has a really thin part/leg.
