this came from bloodust of this website
Found these on another site.....
1. Go to the Main Menu of your PSP.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Scroll down to Network Settings and Press the X button.
4. Select Infrastructure Mode.
5. Select New Connection.
6. Name the connection so that you know it is for web browsing. (ex. WebConnect)
That way you can use another connection for the rest of your online games.
7. Push the Right Direction Key to go to the next menu.
8. Select the Scan option and let it pick up your WLAN settings.
9. Once it picks up a connect, Push the Right Direction Key to go to the next menu.
10. Select Custom for the Address Settings.
11. Push the Right Direction Key to go to the next menu.
12. Leave IP Address Setting on Automatic.
13. Push the Right Direction Key to go to the next menu.
14. Select Manual for your DNS Setting.
15. Push the Right Direction Key to go to the next menu.
16. Enter in 67.171.70.72 as your Primary DNS and just leave the Secondary DNS blank.
17. Push the Right Direction Key to go to the next menu.
18. Select "Do Not Use" for your Proxy Server settings.
19. Push the Right Direction Key to go to the next menu.
20. Push the Right Direction Key to go to the next menu.
21. Push the X button to save your settings.
22. Do a quick test of the connection to make sure it's working correctly.
23. Launch Wipeout Pure and go to the Download option in the main menu.
24. Select the name of the new connection you just made (ex. WebConnect), connect, and enjoy browsing the internet on your PSP.

Takeing for granted that you do not seem to know what an 802.11a,b,g or n is (i.e. Wireless think Cordless Router),. Then you mostlike do not have one.
At which point you could not use the internet beacuse you do not have a Wireless Local Area Network. There's no need to needlessly confuse this with the Wide Area Network. Because there **NOT** the same thing. You can not use your commen 802.3 (xDSL MODEM), beacuse unlike a WLAN it's Wired. Again the anlagy being that to a Cordless Phone.
What does this mean to you?!? Well for starters you don't need to bother with the Networking Functions of your PSP. As you already noticed it doesn't work. The only hope for you is to beg Santa to bring you a nice Netgear or Linksys 802.11a,b, Idealy g or n Device that you can use with you PSP?.
And sneaking 'round trying to steal your Neighbors Bandwith is just a plain NO NO!!!

HI, I have followed the same exact steps on how to start internet on my PSP but when I try the final connection the PSP tells me there is an error and that it couldn't connect. Are these settings for a specific country? I am useing Wifi, Those this matter? Dose the PSP need a specific IP direction or server or dose it just hags from the one on my PC?
Any help is really apreciated

Go to Network settings
Infrastructure mode
You can now rename you connection if you want
Press --> on digital pad to continue
at WLan settings go to scan should see your network
Press X and conitnue
Now do you have any encryption on your Router? eg WEP or WPA PSK?
If it WPA PSK it wont work with 2.0 version psps youll need to set WEP instead.
Sometimes you need to set your WEP to open key instead of "shared" key open key is better for security anyway.
Now try easy IP address settings first and see if it works.
If it doesnt do you know how to configure IPs?
Sometimes to keep things peaceful you need a Piece thats Full
