Hello, I'm new to backing up PS2 games and had a question. Based on my reading of other posts and sites, I was able to pick up the following procedure.

I first plan to back up my disk to my hard drive and then burn it (with TY media of course). Patching it if necessary.
To play the back up game, I plan to use a "boot disk" option with a slide card. If I have a good success rate, I may plan to get a flip top at a later time.

My question is this. For the bootdisk process, I have read on some posts, that you can use a gameshark for this purpose. Some have said the version 1 only while others have been more general, or stated otehrwise. I currently own a Gameshark2 Version 2, for the PS2. If I stick this in, and then use my slide card at the appropriate time, will this work? If it does, great! That way I hopefuly do not have to purchase a Swap Magic disk.

Thank you very much for the help!

Thanks. That's what I was basing it off of, but was trying to be sure before I went through the agony.

If anyone else knows for sure, or can straighten me out, let me know! :)

agnoy?? It will take less than a minute to see if it works. Im pretty sure as long as your gameshark doesn't automatically eject the tray, it will work.

ok, I just never did it before so I wouldn't know if I'm burning it wrong or swaping the disk wrong (which should be pretty hard to mess up if things go correctly). As long as I follow one of the many guides here, I should do fine though.

Hey, i did a search and this topic was the most relevant to my problem

ive been trying to get my GS2v2 to work on my V7 Ps2... ive been using my own homemade version slide card and it ejects the drive pretty well, but thats not my problem... every time i try to run a backup, i get the red screen of death, this worked on my old PS2 just fine, so i didn't bother wondering if it worked on other PS2 versions... is there some kind of copy protection in the V7 PS2 against GS2v2??? or is there something im missing??, im pretty expeirenced at swapping/modchips and all that jazz, so dont mistake me for missing a simple step, like trying to load a dvd backup when the ps2 is in cd mode.

Anyways, it'd be great if anybody could help, im gunna work on trying to find a way around this for the time being, if there is a way

do or do not, there is no try...
only the sith think in black and white...

these quotes confuse me, as the first is black and white and is spoken by a jedi master... is Obi Wan saying Yoda is one with the sith?? o_O
