would like to know if it is possable to copy dvd to cd? i tried easy dvd cd copy and it didnt work. thanks for any info

Do you want to put actual DVD files on CD or use another format like (S)VCD or Divx/Xvid? If you want to put the actual DVD files on a CD you can use any number of programs to split it up, but since most standalone players can't read full DVD bitrates off a CD you'd also have to re-encode it.

i can copy dvds that will play on dvd players but my brothrt has phillips magnavox that they wont play on. he on disilibity and cant aford to buy dvds so i wanted to try to burn my movies on to cd so he can play them. his dvd player is about 5 years old.
my system is a sony
p111
866mhz
40 gig hd
384 meg ram dvd player
and using a pioneer dvd108 burner

The reason why they wont play on your brothers DVD player is because it is 5 yrs old. It does not recognize the burnt disc. It a format that came out after the player was made. It is similar to brand new cd players that recognize cd`s with mp3`s on them, but the cd`s wont play on a 5 yr old unit. You can try different brands of dvd`s to burn onto, to see if that makes a difference. If not then :

I think the simplest and easiest solution is to buy your brother a new dvd player. Bring a burnt disc to the store to test with before you buy. Around here cheap a*s players can be had for apprx $30.00 and they will play anything. You can easily spend $30.00 or more on software to convert dvd`s to cd`s plus the time and trouble to figure it out then to actually do it , plus it ties up your computer while you are converting the video, and you can not do anything else. So it might make a good Xmas present for your brother and you if you were to buy him a new DVD player.

What type of media do you use ? DVD-R, DVD+R ?
What brand of media do you usually use ? (What's the MEDIA ID ?)
What speed do you usually burn those media ?

Try using DVD-R or DVD+R booktyped to DVD-ROM.

Use quality media (Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Maxell Made in Japan and burn slow, x2.0 or x4.0 MAX on those Yuden.

Bet you this will/should work :)
