I'm going to buy some media soon and am wondering what I should go with.
I use a NEC 3500 with 2.TG firmware and have burned around 150 MCC 003 discs, Verbatim and "Datawrite Classic", mostly at 4x in hopes that it gives me better quality. Only a few coasters so far. The main question is wether moving up to 004 discs would give better quality or if I should continue using 003 wich are a little cheaper in Sweden? I would like to buy Taiyo Yuden discs but haven't found them here yet.
Unfortunately, I don't own any drive capable of PIF/PIE scanning so I don't have a clue about the quality of the discs I have burned. The only thing I know is that I get good transfer rates in CD-DVD Speed and a lot of discs from friends (even good media) slows down at the end.
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=144344 In this thread DrageMester posts scans of Verbatim MCC media and claims they are made by CMC and Prodisc. They seem to have good quality which indicates that it's not a problem that they are not made by MCC. What do you guys think?

On my benq 1640, My pi/po scans are a lot better at the 8x and 12x speed of MCC-004 media, than my 4x backups.
Mcc-003 or Mcc-004? Both are top notch.I've burned 300+ Mcc-003 and they are sweet. My tv recorder, which is for 4x speed only, performs excellent with these.
I just burned up my last disc from my first 100 pack spindle of Mcc-004 with 2 playback coasters in a row. They burned ok,looked ok when I looked at the dye side of disc, just pc drives and stand alones wouldn't recognize them.
That's 98% success, way below par for me.These were a couple of duds that were in the spindle.I've got 200 more waiting to be burned.
I haven't seen any cmag or prodisc verbs. All mitsubishi verbs is all I have gotten a hold of in the +8x and +16x speeds.Mcc-002 and ricohjpn-r01 in the 4x speed verbs that I have used. These were still excellent quality.I'd hate to get a hold of 16x cmags or prodiscs. My benqs shouldn't have no trouble with them, but some of the stand alones that my backups play on definitely will! That is guaranteed!
stick with the MCC003s which have worked well for you, and since you mention they are cheaper...save yourself some $$$ stick with the 8x DVD+R Verbs~ :) there really is NO NEED to get the 16x MCC004s if you don't need to, i have found BOTH to be of same quality, i PERSONALLY burn BOTH the MCC003/MCC004 @ 8x anyways, always have, always will, but that's just me :) good luck
Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

I am always prepared to recognize that there can be two points of view - mine and one that is probably wrong - John Gorton
http://www.discsonline.dk/shop/productlist.asp?Id=1058 I thought "Ok, I'll go with 003 discs", but then saw these "Mitsubishi 8x DVD+R" MCC 003 which comes in packs of 100. They cost ~3/4 per disc compared to Verbatim 25 spindles. I can get Verbatims a little cheaper at other places, but let's say they cost what is written there.
Then the Infiniti and Media Range MCC 004 discs are actually cheaper than the Verbatims.
I'm probably taking this matter too far but I'm kinda short of money so I can't afford buying 100+ crap discs :)
If you compare the prices relative to each other, which of all those discs do you recommend I should get?
