Hi can someone please help, if i have a matrix infinity chip in my ps2 does this mean i dont have to rebuild most games,as i have swap magic 3.6 at the mo with the slide tool and have problems with playing the back ups i have made. Total newb to this lol.
with a chip you should not have to rebuild or patch anything.
The only time you have to patch a game is if you want to patch it
so that you can play online.
You will not need either the Swap Magic or slidetool either but they will come in handy. When you patch for online play you can disable
the chip and use Swap Magic instead to play online and that way you can
make sure you do not get banned from a site if it detects your chip, they see them as cheat devices which some sites do not allow.
Also make sure that you keep your flash upgrades for your chip up to date. You can always find the lastest flash here:

yes, it's a good chip and yes it'd difficult to install especially when you don't have any soldering experience. If you plan on installing it yourself (i'm assuming you're not too good at soldering since you say you're new at this) get some old electronics board and practice soldering points comparable to the ones the matrix inifinity uses. I'd recommend you get someone else to install it if you're good at soldering.
if you mean the flash upgrades, yes, simple as pie
download the update
unzip it
burn the cue file to a CD (not DVD)
then play it in your PS2
then follow any onscreen instructions.
