well, since you mentioned that, this question is really in the "eyes of the beholder"...:)
what you may consider "realistic", someone else MAY NOT~ and vice versa...but, if you want MY honest opinion, i would just get a regular dual layer dvd burner, they're often times cheaper and w/ an Epson R200/R300/R320 series, you can just purchase inkjet printables in either the white or silver matte (i prefer the silver printables for that "holographic" appearance on my discs)..and just utilize the printer to do your covers~ :)
i have never used the Lightscribe technology before, so, i am biased in recommending the other "regular" dual layer burner only because it's straight-forward and easy to master~ :) Lightscribe tech. is advancing pretty quickly from what i hear and soon there will be COLOR lightscribing available w/ new models of burners that support it...that should be pretty kool~
but, another reason why I would just get a regular DL burner is that printable DL discs ARE already available that are printable using an inkjet printer...i have some actually, Ritek Ridata DVD+R DLs printables~ they work well for ME, but many others have had issues with Ritek Ridata...but, it works just fine for my 2 MAIN burners (Sony dru-710a and Pioneer dvr-109) :)
so, it's just a matter of preference and MY OWN opinion...it's really up to you...who knows when a Lightscribe DL disc will be available? i have no idea...

i have used both.. inkjet printables and lightscribe...
i do like the LS, but i do like my inkjets as well..

i do like both very much.. i may like the inkjet option more. but i would consider the doing more on LS if the damn discs weren't $1 each. best buy has had good sales lately on the 10 pk of dvdr for 7.99.
the 30 pk of cdr LS are about $20.
you can get the 8x printable dvdr for about $39. and the inket printables for $31. but then you factor in the cost of inks.
i will check with verbatim and see if they have any LS DL are in their near future. and i'm waiting for that color on the burners..
you could always do low quality for the printables and save some ink.

We don't set up inkjet printable DVD-R DL yet.
But the vast majority of the DL drives support +R DL, 95123 should be fine for
