@spacedust

no harm, no foul, i accept your apology and sorry if it seemed like i was focusing my anger on you, i tend to have a short temper and that is just a problem i have, i'm guilty of that~:)

anyways,
Quote:
But Im still scared to waste my money on Verbatum Mcc04 16X media. If any one has any I would love to see some scans on it burned at 16X or 12X. My sony scans still do not compare to those benq scans though nice drive. Kivory sorry for blasting you!!. I need to try some of that taiyo yuden 8X media now. I've seen the shiny silver which is the cheapest and silver printable and white face printable which do you recommend. Is there any diffrence in those 3 as far as quality becouse I do not plan on printing on them just want the best quality.
it's not really a "waste" of money on the 16x MCC004s because, with all these local stores having their media sales, you can get the 16x speed for the same price as the 8x Verbs~ :) i believe it was just last week or the week before when Office Max were selling them 50-pack 16x for like $14.99? or somewhere around there, i might be wrong in the exact price, but, it comes down to less than $0.40/disc for the 16x rated Verbs, each and every time when on sale these days, closer to $0.30/each actually~ just be patient with the Verbatim sales, they are priced very well lately :)

as to your Taiyo Yuden question, there really is NO difference in quality between the various types of TY 8x DVD+R media, the only REAL issue is to make sure you get GENUINE Taiyo Yudens :) locally, of course, you will find those w/ either the Fuji or Sony labelling/branding on top of the disc, but, with online retailers, such as sms or rima or meritline and even now shop4tech(based on quite a few members telling me of their success with them now)
you will most likely find the shiny silver/matte top/silver inkjet/white inkjet/hub-printable/etc/etc..the list goes on and on...as long as they are GENUINE, the "difference" in quality between ALL the types in the same rated speed and format are MARGINAL, at best~ :) if you don't plan on printing on them, then just get the least expensive one you can find of the bunch~

if anyone tells you that "Sony/Fuji/-insert brand name here- made Taiyo Yudens are better than the silver shiny/white inkjet printable/matte/etc,etc Taiyo Yudens" in terms of quality, they are simply FULL OF $hit~ :) i'm willing to bet they just pullin that crap out their a$$ because they've ONLY used one particular brand and it worked well for them, so they basically disregard ANYONE else's opinion about "branded/unbranded" Taiyo Yudens..just tell them to shove it~ :)

i'm telling you first hand, i've tried approx. 95% of ALL genuine Taiyo Yuden manufactured media out there in the market today, regardless of brand or "no brand", do i "prefer" one over the other? simply stated, NO, because they are all the same quality...even i have had my "bad batch" before, so that's just how things are in the media industry, even Taiyo Yuden has let a few "bad apples" slip thru their quality control, EVERY manufacturer HAS :)

i've also tried NUMEROUS "FAKE TY" coded media before too, with HORRIblE results, that's why i place my IMPORTANCE on getting "genuine/authentic" TYs over anything else...the difference between the "rated speeds" on TY is not even noticeable to the
average user, and even to the experienced user, most will just tell you, "hehe my TYG02 burns faster than my TYG01s, and my TYG03s are the fastest EVER"..uh..ok..mr. obvious~ LOL

so, glad things are "kool" between you and i, if you EVER have any questions or doubt about Taiyo Yuden, you know who to call, i'll be more than happy to clarify anything for you...burn on buddy~

@xtlee

unfortunately, i am not ALL that experienced with scanning/quality tests/troubleshooting WHY the drop occurred where it did...your guess is as good as mine? might be specifically drive related? or that those particular Verbs are "finicky" when run through a scan?

wish i could give you a "better" answer, but i simply will admit that i "do not know~!" :) can't be more honest than that~

Newegg just started carring these again. Taiyo yuden +RX8 $23.99. Here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817172111
I'm going to order me a pack now and give them a try. I tried maxell +R 8X from walmart they read (Ritek). The disk quality scans do not look as good as the verbatum's(MCC003) burned @8X. I will let you guys know how the the taiyo yuden's turn out when I get them.

if you are going to buy online anyways, why not save yourself some money and get it from supermediastore.com or rima.com? TYs are TYs, and at $24 plus $4 shipping for 50 pack, this is assuming you don't get slapped w/ CA sales tax like i do too, it's MORE expensive than sms or rima~ :)

last day free shipping too~!! assuming you want more than just 50-pack :) just trying to save ya some $$$, that's all~ :0
