What effects does a PAL game have on a NTSC system?

I am just wondering about playing imports on my PS2. I see that with the Swap Magic it is possible but are there any differences between PAL and NTSC? Like the screen size is different, colors, or anything else?

Would I need to make some kind of adjustments?

PAL games will be in Black and WHite and have screen alignment problems.

But Imports(if youre talking about Japanese Imports) arnt PAL they are NTSC2,so you would have no problems.
