I was able to copy the movie using dvd decrypter(copy the whole movie in file mode). DVDshrink gave an error when trying to open the files so I had to use shrinkto5 (get it at shrinkto5.com)to shrink the files to fit on a single DVD-R, I then was able to use DVDshrink to create an ISO image for burning. You can also try using DVDFab Decrypter free from DVDIdle.com, I have'nt tried it yet but it should work.

uninstall and restart comp and reinstall then restart comp again and then try AnyDVD and make sure you see the fox at the bottom right hand corner of your screen and then use clonedvd2 because it works best with AnyDVD for problematic movies. i backed it up perfectly using this method. make sure you have 5.6.1.1

i tried AnyDVD 5.6.1.1 with CloneDVD2 and no success. i've looked at all the threads. i tried DVDFab Express (newest one) PgcEdit with plug-in and VOBBlanker, then ran it through DVDShrink, it worked fine. i burned the image file and it worked. today i went to make a copy for a guy i know from work from the image through DVDShrink and it flopped.
should i use AnyDVD with DVDFab or not? and after what program should i use that will guarantee a successful copy and what type of disc should i use? im using the MAXELL DVD+R where it's shiny on both sides and i also have Sony DVD-R's

@thebox

If you did not have any lucks with AnyDVD and DVDFab Decrypter, or all your other methods has failed, then try the following method and I GUARANTEE that you'll have a successfully working "full disc" within 45 minutes.

Madagascar is not Sony's ARccOS, it's MacroVision's RipGuard Protection. Here is what works for me backing up MADAGASCAR.

1) rip the movie using DVD Decrypter via File Mode (save log for future reference if you're going the PSL route)

2) open up VobBlanker, browse to your "input = source" and "output = destination"

3) click/highlight VTS_8_*.VOB and highlight PGC or TTN entry 2 - 5 only, then "BLANK" them and click on "PROCESS".

That's it... sit and wait until it's done (VobBlanker should only take about 12 - 15 minutes, depending on your computer specs). Now you can encode/compress it with DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 and burn them at your desire burning engine. I GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL WORK 100%!!

Enjoyed it and happy burning..!!

I was able to do it using Dvd Decrypter and old version of AnyDVD 5.1.1.1. Used DVD Shrink after and burned sucessfully. That easy I guess but I did go through some tough times with the movie using other methods prior to the one I noted. DvdFabexpress did work in copying movie to HD but DvdShrink gave me some problems due to my PC. DVDFab should work though and it did for Stealth.

yes exactly! I thought it was just my computer as I'm using an old Athlon 900 but that doesn't seem to be the case apparently.

To anyone who want to copy MADAGASCAR , i just tried copying it with Shrinkto5 ( www.shrinkto5.com )software and it works, you need to use AnyDVD 5.6.1.1 in the background. It works exactly the same as DVD Shrink :) although When using Shrinkto5, use it only to backup you dvd to the hard drive and then use Nero to burn. I will only use it ShrinkTo5 in case PLAN "A" fails because DVD Shrink Is still #1 in dvd shrinking.

i recently Madagascar effortlessly with DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.0 (free) then Shrunk with DVD Shrink as normal. what i did do was use my dvd-rom/cd-write combo drive (like io do for most of my ripping); didn't try to rip it on any of my dvd burners as i'd done the movie already but it's always nice to have a couple of optical drives..as if a movie won't play ball on one drive you always have a choice of drives to use..

Not trying to stray too far off topic, but I thought I should clarify, since you posted twice about this.

If you check the seventh post above, in this very thread, you will note that a senior member here (Alkohol) posted the following information about "Madagascar."

"Madagascar is not Sony's ARccOS, it's MacroVision's RipGuard Protection."

He is (as usual) 100% correct. Forbes Magazine last week confirmed that Madagascar is the very first disc in the US to use Macrovision's new copy protection scheme, which they have been advertising since last spring. It is called RipGuard. It will stump DVDShrink (if used on its own) every time. It is somewhat similar to Sony's ARccOS form of copy protection, in that it deliberately places structural errors on the disc, to try to cause ripping software to choke up and grind to a halt. However, it is a new wrinkle, or a new variation of this.

Finally, I would urge anyone who needs more info on "Madagascar" to use the search function (just as senior member AABBCCDD suggested way back in the 3rd post above). As he mentions, there are far too many threads on this already, and most of the lengthier ones in existence provide MANY solutions, as well as the above information regarding the type of protection we are seeing here. One thread on this forum has had more than 170 responses, many of which could have provided these same answers much more quickly than waiting on those patient enough to try to re-type it all over again.

@Phantom69

No problem friend. We are all here to learn. I know that I am and I appreciate all the help that I get here, whether it's from questions that I ask or just read.

Cheers.

I only have DVD Decrypter, Shrink, and ImgBurn (the updated Decrypter burn engine) to rip, encode, and burn backups of DVD titles.

I have no problem with Madagascar, Stealth, Skeleton Key, and most recently, Four Minutes, only using Decrypter and Shrink. Structure Protection and Ripguard don't seem to be a problem. One caveat though, I'm not into menues anymore - I just stack any special feature titlesets behind the main move titleset on my backup burns.

A cryptic outline of my method, assuming you've looked at Decrypter and Shrink guides enough to understand the options, is as follows:

Open Decrypter > select ISO Write option > then rip whole DVD to ISO file > close Decrypter. Open Shrink > select File on toolbar > select disk image option > navigate to your ripped ISO file > open file. Watch Shrink preview run > select reauthor mode > drag titlesets you want over to left pane. Highlight first titleset in left pane > select edit titleset option > go to Chapt 2 > move slider backwards toward beginning > stop slider just past blanks at beginning of Chapt 1 > close the edit box > repeat edit procedure for other titlesets, if necessary, in left pane. Select Backup from toolbar > either select encode to an ISO file and burn with Decrypter option, or encode to an ISO file option (to burn later with ImgBurn).

I've found Decrypter doesn't always work in the file folder mode usually recommended without help (AnyDVD, DVD43, etc.), but always works if you decrypt the whole DVD to an ISO file and then proceed from there. Somebody in this forum said that, once you get to the Shrink part of the procedure, you can then encode the whole disk with the menu intact - I've never tried it and would think you'd end up with all those obnoxious blank frames at the beginning of the titlesets with structure protection.

Edit - Forgot to mention this method also works for Sky High.

Having struggled with this I then cracked it simply:

1. Use DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 to hard drive
2. Opened NeroVision Express 3
3. Added to project the four files VTS_08_1; VTS_08_2; VTS_08_3; VTS_08_4 selecting no when asked if I wanted to join clips together.
4. One clip required audio stream to be changed from 1 to 2 to bring language to English. (Right click the clip to select audio)
5. Click next until finished, I added chapter marks.
6. Burned it with NeroVision Express 3

How easy is that!
