I don't have a DVD burner, but I might invest in one soon. Is there a list of PS2 games that are CD? I did a couple of searches here and noted that you "might be able to get away with a DVD game on a CD depending on the size".

I would think it would be all games out after [X date] would be on DVD, and that date would NOT be recently. I would also think that I'm strictly out of luck on this one. I don't think I can just cram 750Mb onto 700Mb media :P

You guys know your stuff though, and I'm a n00b. Enlightenment welcome.

Most ps2 games are on dvd, plus the ps2 reads dvd's a lot better than cd's. You can get a very good dvd burner (pioneer 110) off pricewatch.com for $50.

Untrue, there are plenty of fine PS2 games which are CDs. It's just that most games were initially released on CD, but over time releases progressively moved over to DVD, such that new CD games nowadays are almost nonexistent, though there are some notable exceptions (the relatively recent Lego Star Wars and Growlanser II and III come to mind). In short, CD (or blue-bottom) releases nowadays are rare, but not unheard of: for instance, a lot of classic compilations are released on CD as well.

Speaking of which, the list in that link is good, but misses a lot of gems (ICO, Contra: Shattered Soldier, Dynasty Warriors 2, Guilty Gear X, Harvest Moon, Okage, Time Crisis 2, Tribes: Aerial Assault, Way of the Samurai), is outdated (Gundam Assault 3, Gradius III-V, Growlanser Generations, and Lego Star Wars missing, among others), or altogether wrong occasionally (State of Emergency is a DVD game). You can try my list here ( http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/176791 ), which I don't claim to be comprehensive, but it should cover most major CD releases, particularly in the US. By my count, roughly 17% of the games I've tested are CD games, which is a bit more than a mere handful.
