Hello all. I am very new to this converting files for my newly purchased iPOD 60GB Video. I recently read through all the how to's and discovered that PQ Video was the software I would go with. After purchasing it for 35 dollars I am very happy but I am running into one problem. Please bear with me, my terms are not very technical.

I want very good video quality, so I will simply bump up the quality to the fullest point, and then keep increasing the quality until it is around 5000KBPS and 15FPS. I will get through about 5 to 10 minutes and my laptop will just shut off and restart? I am confused becauset there is no warning or error message, it will just shut off? I thought that it might be my DVD drive so I got out my external but it does the exact same thing. Am I setting the quality to high or is this a software issue? BTW I reinstalled PQ and it is doing the same thing. Thanks again.

I just ripped 'War of the world' DVD for testing.
* rip by default mode (354kbps,15fps)
I recorded 6 minutes, the output mp4 file size is 18.4mb. And no error comed out.
* rip by highest quality mode (1203kbps, 15fps)
I recorded 6 minutes, the output file size is 29.7mb. It works well.

Suggestions:
1. shut off all other applications before converting
2. lower quality
3. change a DVD movie to test
4. change a PC to try
5. the trial version can only convert 5-6 minutes video files. Even if you used the trial version, your computer should not restart during converting. Why shut off and restart? :(

I have the full version as well and I have noticed that it is not completely stable, but it works well on the most part. I have noticed if I am running other programs, it tends to crash and can imagine this would 10x worse on a laptop.

First off, you should change the setting from 15fps to 30fps if you want to look like a high quality rip. Also, there is really no need to put it at its highest settings, I usually set it to about 75-80% and I usually get a beautiful picture.

hi all, i have been reaading every forum possible for about 3-4 weeks now and i have the full version of pq dvd to ipod converter. i have tried all different setting, turned off every other program, reinstalled the program, and tried re-registering my program. i put a dvd in my dvd drive and i open pq dvd to ipod set start point output settings etc. so i have it set to rip my dvd in mp4 to my desktop and to rip the full dvd. i start the movie then press "record it" as it says to do, it works perfectly as it hsould, then about 20 minutes in it either says pq dvd to ipod has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. we are sorry for the inconvienience. or it just restarts my computer as it did to the others. my computer is a amd athlon. 512 megs of ram 160 gigs of memory. so i know this has nothin to do with space. i have racked my brains lookingto solve this problem and have tried everything TRUST ME!!! please put up all suggestions.

Hey all.
I have an Ipod Vidoe 30gig and I have PQ DVD to Ipod video converter. With some clips/movies I convert, it works fine. But with alot of them, when I click Record, the program just shuts down. It doesnt convert anything. This is a real bummer for me because it doesnt convert the clips I really want. Could someone please help me?

It's just a shot in the dark but it _could_ be the decoder. I use Intervideo (since the player came on my laptop) and have not had problems. Perhaps a different decoder is in order.

the maximum the iPod can handle is 2.5mbps, so you are way over-limits there, for a start. Secondly, you'd be better off with the framerate @ 30kbps, as 15fps is not as good as it gets. You will find that a higher framerate will reduce the 'jerkiness' when there are fast movements in the video..
