Man, do I feel like a complete novice over here. Can someone help me out?

I downloaded a torrent, and I'm trying to play it. My DVD player will play Dvix, I've got the codecs installed on my computer and the whole nice yards, but I can't figure out how to play the files. Not on my computer, and not on a burned DVD disk in my player. Frankly, I can't even tell what files are supposed to be played.

The file is called Batman.Begins.DVDRip.XviD-DoNE
It contains four sub-directory files:
- CD1
- CD2
- Sample
- Subs
It also has an MSInfo document.

I appologize if this is the wrong forum, but I could really use some pointers here. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance!

hi

i am not sure how a divx player reads a file? i do know that the files in cd1 and cd2 are the first part and second part of the film! you can jion these with virtualdubmod to 1 file (it may play the divx file then on your standalone - WITHOUT FOLDERS ETC!!!)

on ya pc use VLC player to watch it! its a free and very good app

Hey Rotary,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. And so quickly, too!

Granted that I don't know much about this subject, but I don't understand how merging the two video files would help. I can't seem to play the files within those folders anyway.

Forgot to mention that the format of the files themselves, within CD1 and CD2. The extension is .rXX, where the XX is a number that varies with each file (.r00-r48, plus .rar and .sfv).

Think this virtualdubmod app will do the trick?

hi

ok i am lost now? hehehe you say that inside cd1 and cd2 are WINRAR files? (say 20/30 files with ext .001 .002 etc etc?)

if they are? use winrar to unpack and put together to get a single file most of the time in say .AVI format!

i said jion the 2 files as i wasnt sure if your divx player could read the second file of .AVI type after the first?

sorry dont have a divx player...

Most DivX compatible DVD players will jump right to the next AVI (at least the ones Ive used , Philips and Pioneer brands). Others will stop after first AVI and return the main menu/index , waiting for you to select the next file to play.

you can take the take time to join the 2 avis into one single file to be on the safe side or the lazyside like Id do. But joining 2 avis together can lead to the audio going outta sync which is another mess to correct. so its a choice you gotta make - do I either a. wanna take the chance my player will play both avis back to back contiounsly OR b. do I join the 2 avis to one and risk having audio syncing issues?

Well you know how picky VirtualDub can be with avis (xvid/Dixv) sometimes. I found it easier to just burn the 2 seperate avis on dvd and let the player do its thing.

Thanks for all the help, guys. I got the Dvix working just fine. I kept it in two files in the end. The intermission was no real inconvenience.

Thanks again!
